Apparently, the new Sky Q box will be available for pre-order from 9/2/16. The Daily Star has pricing info

The Sky Q box will come in two flavours. Sky Q basic (from 42) and Sky Q Silver premium (from 54). Both options exclude sports and movies. (I am not sure and would love someone to confirm, but I think both those options come with HD as standard, as opposed to having to pay for a HD premium on the current Sky+ boxes)

Sky Q basic From 42 per month

    Sky TV in 1 room
    Stream TV on 1 tablet
Take recordings with you (via the Sky Q app)
Record 3 shows and watch a 4th live (Smart Features)
Store up to 150 hours with 1TB storage on the Sky Q Box
300+ channels including Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Arts and Sky Atlantic
    50+ HD channels
Over 300 Sky Box Sets on demand
    3D on demand
    Service visits included
    Sky Go Extra

    Or

Sky Q Silver premium From 54 per month

Sky TV in 2 rooms via Sky Q Silver box and Sky Q Mini (viewing in extra rooms available at additional cost)
    Stream TV on 2 tablets
Take recordings with you (via the Sky Q app)
Record 4 shows and watch a 5th live (Smart Features)
Store up to 350 hours with 2TB storage on the Sky Q Silver box
300+ channels including Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Arts and Sky Atlantic
    50+ HD channels
Over 300 Sky Box Sets on demand
    3D on demand
    Service visits included
    Sky Go Extra

Anyone going for it? My current Sky sub is 75p less than the Sky Q Basic version, so it all depends on whether or not I want to pay 50 for the upgrade fee.

Just cancelled all my live TV subscriptions. Happy enough with iPlayer, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

And this. Rarely watch live TV, other than sports these days. Virtually never get to see the news either.

No mention of 4k in the OP's post? Wasn't this the big selling point of Sky Q? I might get it, currently we have the entertainment package (and their broadband). Ridiculously expensive but their on demand box sets are good for premium tv shows which I can't get on Netflix/amazon

Yep I am paying 92 at the moment as I am out of contract on phone, broadband and Sky TV.... makes sense for me....
  • Deleted user 4 February 2016 07:10:01
Never even heard of it before today. The 350 in upfront fees has put me,off right away
  • Deleted user 4 February 2016 07:13:31
    Looks great, but pricey through.

Can you pay a one off fee just for the box to avoid the monthly fee?
  • Deleted user 4 February 2016 07:19:23
@LetsGo nope, you have to pay a one off fee and a monthly sub

Seems a bit rich to me. I get now tv entertainment and movies for like a tenner a month, which is just sky with all the shit edited out.
  • Deleted user 4 February 2016 07:21:42
Wow... It looks fantastic but a little too pricey for me

It looks fucking shit. Who seriously wants endless channels of shit they don't watch?

There's enough +1 channels and on demand stuff now to negate recording 3 channels at once.

Ive moved everything but tv (old modular package, no movies or sports, 20p/m) away from sky and I've only kept that out of convenience because I hide the box away and have a magic eye to control it.

Yup, my wife buys the boxes when they are on offer and we just chuck the hardware or sell it to some idiot on Facebook.

4K isn't a draw for me, since I don't actually have a 4K TV. But I should have mentioned that the Sky Q silver premium box is the only 4K-enabled box. If you fancy it.

I would sack Sky off in a heartbeat but I live for F1 Sundays. Kicking back and watching all the build up, fast forwarding through the ads and shit bits, then pausing mid race for a little snooze is my favourite way to spend a lazy Sunday. Thankfully I managed to get 40 a month off my bill for a year which makes it that little bit more bearable.

We binned sky last year when it got to nearly 90/month (just tv no phone or broadband), thankfully we had 200mb fiber available.
So convinced the wife to buy a xbox one, then subs for Netflix, Amazon prime and now tv.
All the sky goodness with zero adverts and no recording clashes.
Also got a freesat box for terrestrial tv

We have more tv available than we have time to watch at a fraction of the cost, best thing we ever did.
