Registered 11 years agoI'm getting a definite Grey Jedi vibe from everything. I think Rey's parents were a Jedi and a Sith. Luke is still the last Jedi but Kylo isn't a Sith. So at the moment Luke is the only 'side' around. I think he knows he'll have to train Rey enough to face Kylo and then allow Kylo to kill him but allow Rey to survive.
I reckon anyway... -

Registered 13 years agoNotice the shot of the Jedi temple burning with Luke and R2 in the foreground. So we should see exactly what happened in that force flashback from TFA. Music was glorious and there was just enough there to get me super excited. -

Registered 13 years agoThat film poster is shocking. Worse than a 5 minute MS PAINT cut and paste job.
At the least match the sizes of the faces so it looks like 1 full face split evenly surely? -

Registered 17 years agoNot watched the panel yet but apparently the film is very much centered around Luke. Also there's a whole "never meet your idol" thing doing on with Ray/Luke and the First Order are really attacking the Resistance and hammering the shit out of them.
No Snoke. No sign of Laura Dern or Benicio del Toro, which is good. Doesn't really tell you anything. That line at the end could be much earlier in the film and Ray brings him around or something.
Edit: It could be the start of them moving away from Jedi and taking the series in a totally different direction too. Somehow.

Registered 10 years agoThe panel was ok, nothing was edited out which was good. Good point on the timing of the last line actually. -

Registered 7 years agoIt felt fairly muted, but enough. I don't know if it's because we're 3 Star Wars films down in 3 years but it didn't hit me like 7's did. Still, I can't fucking wait. -

Seems likely in the penultimate part of the entire saga.

Registered 6 years agoThey're planning to make films for the next 30 years or something aren't they? The Jedi stuff isn't going anywhere soon. -

I don't think it was drivel, but 7 was definitely disappointing, albeit enjoyable, because it was effectively a shot-for-shot remake of ANH. I'm hoping that was just an effort to introduce the concept to a new generation and now the story can properly move on. Abrams is definitely a safe pair of hands rather than a visionary too. I want to believe it was all a calculated move.
Far more excited about all the incoming anthology films after the drivel they spat out for EP7 TBH but I'll probably end up seeing it as it's Star Wars. The music for that teaser was great though.
Roll on the Han Solo movie, the Jedi and the force are so fucking dull! -

Registered 17 years agoThey aren't planning the Skywalker saga for another 30 years. They can easily finish it off here with the Jedi being discontinued and still make films around, before and potentially a long time after it that do and don't deal with the Jedi. -

Registered 17 years agoOfficial. Carrie Fisher will not be in Episode 9. I think they were looking at a number of ways to try put her in but decided against it. Good on them! -

The Jedi could quite easily end in this episode. They are making more main sequence films after 9. They don't have to feature Jedi at all. Even ep9 doesn't. The end if the Jedi might not mean the end of force using lightsabre twiddlers. It could mean Grey Jedi (force users that embrace both light and dark) or just a Matrix style 'no dark without light'. The Jedi are just as strict to the light side, seeing it as needing to be pure light, as much as the Sith are pure evil dark side. So get rid of both and embrace the fact that they all have light and dark and to chose a side is the problem.

So quite easily no more Jedi in the future. And according to all the info we have so far - most likely. -

Registered 17 years agoRogue One proved you don't need Jedi to make $1 billion at the box office. It's pretty much given them the green light to try different things. Looks as though the Skywalker saga will end at 9 and I'm totally fine about that.
They're bound to continue the Jedi in some form or other, be it in an Obi-Wan trilogy or something else.
No Celebration next year so they may make another announcement with regards a new spin-off in the next couple of days. -

Its also been confirmed that Luke is the titular Last Jedi. So given that and the fact we see Luke training Rey in the trailer, he's not training her to be a Jedi, but something else/more.
