    Well,

Been lurking for a while, couple of years I reckon so I fancied a bitch :)

I've noticed a distinct increase in the amount of sniping and self righteous cunts who patrol the area.

It seems to be coming a self inclusive forum whereby unless you agree with popular opinion you're considered a bit of a tard (to quote)

Other increase is in utter waste of fkin space spelling or grammar correctors. To this I bring two points

    a) Did you understand the post to which you are correcting? If yes then shut the fuck up. If you'd imagine that you where correcting someone to their face as they where speaking I would expect nothign less than for you to get your face caved (and no I don't condone any violence (unless your a twat))

and b) what sort of a life have you got that you can spend your time correcting tiny grammatical and spelling errors on an internet forum (yes yes most ironic that this complaint is coming via an internet forum etc etc most intelligent, the point being that the only way to address afore mentioned offenders is through this medium)

Seriously, not everyones perfect, some ppl even go so far to leave the caps lock on (which fkin infuriates me but I don't feel the need to post)

I spose to sum alot of it up, when I first 'arrived' it was mature fun and discussion, the degeneration of sniping by regular posters is a sad sight. Get over yourself. All this text will be forgotten and lost in the ether within two weeks.

Don't post to correct ppls spelling cos imho you're a cunt and wasting your own life!

Hang on............ [irony insertion] ...... bugger.....

    oh yeh.. the respect bit...

basically... cos you like games... doesn't make you more or less intelligent than those that don't. cba :)

If you've been lurking as long as you say you have, you ought to know that this forum has a glorious tradition of using actual English instead of the quasi-literate txtspeak gibberish so many forums are full of.

It's one of the reasons the discussions here tend to be different from the discussions on many forums.

It's fairly strange to complain about being treated as if you were ignorant and then insist on communicating in the text equivilant of grunts and hand gestures.

To be fair, I think most of the grammar correcting is done tongue in cheek.

point taken, tongue in cheek sometimes yes

but it's still the equivalent of the smug bloke that every knows that goes "well actually no. I think you'll find that..." etc etc

Doesn't mean any harm at all, and everyone probably under stands that but it's not to say everyone doesn't think hes a bellend.

And yes, that's the reason I like the forum. normal discussion using normal text and no leet speak....

The post was stating that the sniping has become more and being excluded from all threads purely becuase you have a different opinion seems to be coming more common place

and I don't insist on communicating in grunts and hand gestures merely in a way that eveyrone can understand each other and progress whatever topic where discussing

(I feel the need to add the word "Man" :) )

I never correct spelling and grammar, for I am the worst offender!

    Welcome by the way!

    Wow. Way to introduce yourself.

I agree about the spelling thing. It does grate when someone misspells something (especially deliberately) but I try to keep my opinion to myself unless asked for it. Particularly on a forum where English isn't many people's first language, pedantry is churlish in the extreme. But that's one of the reasons why deliberate misspelling pisses me off - it's liable to put wrong words into people's heads that are still learning the language (and who isn't?)

But you could say the same thing about '/wanks', if you know what I mean. Not exactly a habit you want to bring into polite conversation, that.

Anyway, about this respect and sniping thing, what are you talking about specifically? Without examples, I can't see why anyone who's being attacked can't defend themselves. So if it's a position that most people here dislike, it's going to be harder. But I don't see what you can do about that.

There are certain topics where some people have a habit of getting a bit high and mighty about here. One is Europe, another is religion. But other than occasionall tardish behaviour from some of the regulards from time to time, I don't see a massive problem.

Oh, I see, it's the Europe thing then. Yeah, you have to have a very thick skin to take part in those threads. Personally I enjoy it, though it does annoy me when BGiE (and to a lesser extent Khani) pop up (both of whom hold views I don't subscribe to) and get personal attacks for their troubles.

As already said it’s often done in a tongue in cheek fashion anyway.

When I do it (not often) I try to put it in tongue in cheek form, but I do try to seriously correct the person.

With 'loose' and 'lose' for example. Or my personal pet peeve: 'definitely' written as 'definately'.

The other day someone corrected me on the fact that I wrote 'wether' instead of 'whether'. I now look twice and hopefully the wring form will be erased from my writing.

    It is useful.

When people 'snipe' at BGiE it's not because of his opinion it's because of the way he presents it.

Y'see it's things like this that make people think you're a twat. And the only thing you can come back with is 'well why do I care what a bunch of strangers think of me?'.

I don't act a certain way when I'm here. I don't suck up and I don't try to stand out. I come on to talk about games, movies and general shite. I'm not here to make friends or enemies but if I do so be it.
