I've got a free BA flight to take anywhere before the end of this year and quite fancy a two week small group tour of Iran I've seen.
Also, anyone speak Farsi? Was thinking of some lessons but haven't learnt a new language for about 30 years.
Travels in Persia...
A friend of mine is an expert in Iran travel, she works for one of those specialist companies who organise like absolutely all aspects of the trip. Guides, visas etc. Anything in particular you want to know?
She doesn't speak farsi for what it's worth
Cheers Pete, I work in travel myself so have a lot covered.
If you could PM me the name of the company she's with, I am browsing tours at the moment and open to potentially spending more if the tour's right.
Was wondering how what time scale I'd need for the visa.
Thanks for the pm, I've checked and we use them as a supplier so will definitely check them out.

Do BA fly to Iran? Jordan might be a better/safer bet.
Iran is safe.
Yeah, they've just started flying again. What with the thawing.
Don't really fancy Jordan, the stuff I've heard about Iran appeals more. Don't think safety is an issue.
About 17 years ago I took a cheap charter flight to Eilat in December with a colleague. Bussed it up to Jerusalem then Bethleham, it was just before Christmas and pretty magical.
Thankfully I've renewed my passport since, or I wouldn't be getting in now
