Their Sports twitter account put out a "breaking news, please switch on your telly and watch us to find out what this news is" tweet which seemed utterly cynical

They're playing Candle in the Wind for him? He would have absolutely fucking hated that.
Has the country not suffered enough already this last 12 months without every radio station playing out back to back emotional tunes like Candle in the Wind and Beautiful by James Blunt -
The radio stations must have all been told explicitly not to play "Zombie" by The Cranberries. -

Registered 6 years agoRIP and all that, but I don't really think it's THAT big a deal, is it? Every single BBC radio station has sent all their presenters home and is running the exact same 'BBC News Special' for literally the rest of the day now. What if you just don't give a fuck? What if your way of grieving some old dude you never metis to rock out to Steve Lamacq? And over on Instagram every single business is trying to pretend they're just IN BITS by posting that same portrait of him with some curly royal-looking font saying how gutted they are.

BBC stations aren't even doing that. It's just some snore-athon of fucking 'experts' pontificating and 'remembrancisationalising' it all. Every. Single. Station. Same shit. Unbelievably fucking lazy. The actual presenters must be LOVING it, free day off wooooo!

WTF, every single BBC radio channel is broadcasting the identical tributary shit, well except the world service but they're just have a different tributary shit output. Do they really think the listeners of Radio 1Extra for example want to listen to this shit, though this diatride is arguably more entertaining than the bollocks that that channel normally broadcasts. Thank God for my internet radio now I'm home.

The radio is wall to wall sad songs. Absolute, sort it out!
Big Phil carking it will really shit up the news and terrestrial TV for the weekend. Hope he's alright.
What about the rest of us? Where's OUR fucking day off? -

Yep. I find this excessive media reaction somewhat offensive.
Just said much the same to my wife. I hate this faux grieving, with people visiting Buck Pal, signing books and all sorts. You can say "oh that's sad" but anything beyond that baffles me. He had little impact on anyone's life, other than his family.
99 year old billionaire dies, we must mourn this tragedy!

Frankly I'm furious that so much broadcast telly that I wasnt going to be watching is being taken over with all of this. Outrageous. Still at least Channel 4 has continued as normal
