    From what we know:

The Goldeneye team left to form Free Radical Designs (timesplitters) now bought by Crytek.
Some went to Media Molecule, others elsewhere.
Chris Seavor left to make indie game (Rusty pup game)
The core team behind Banjo and Donkey are now at Playtonicgames along with other new Rare employees.
And in other news, Lionhead staff went and did some other things.

It's free to play and I assume they might want to protect the IP from being tarnished if the game is bad. I'm not sure how much money a bad free to play game could make when you take into account the expense of hosting servers and publicity/marketing.
    Fable III tarnished it

One of them now works for Blizzard. I know this as I actually know him :)

He worked on Fable 1. I asked why he wanted out and he replied "Peter Molyneux". Enough said I think.

I think this is more evidence that MS couldn't care less about the Xbone.

Its true. If you have one product that people dont give a shit about.... its safe to say you were already on borrowed time.

Rare and Lionhead are quite different.

I first created my EG account to comment on the review of Fable I I. I loved that series. They shall be missed.

I only played Fable 2, it was ok but really nothing special...

Did Microsoft ever actually make any profit from acquiring Lionhead? Even with critical acclaim and success of some of the fable games, I always got to the impression it was just another speculative venture by Microsofted, bounded by the dazzling salesman words of a shit-flinging imp and a mediocre to good development team.

Spending 4 years making a game that the core community didn't want was always going to end in tears. If it was your company would you continue to throw money down the shitter?? I am actually surprised that Phil didn't pull the plug earlier.

Really tough on the talented devs at Lionhead many of which will go on to bigger and better things I am sure.

I wouldn't be at all surprised that all the work done to date doesn't become the majority of Fable 4, be it at Lionhead or my money, at RARE...

Not easily discovered from google, but considering they bought minecraft for 2.5 billion, I doubt they got the better end of the deal.

Yeah I just meant in terms of the generous offers they can pull, not minecraft. Minecraft is an obvious winner.

It's also pretty cynical honestly. Your lead creative head or whatever goes, and you just go for the supposedly most lucrative avenue to hang your waning series on.
