| @LetsGo You can stack it up against the wealth of new AAA IPs this year (Scalebound, Recore, Quantum Break), the constant (impressive) updates to the console and the Xbox App on Windows, and Phil Spencer's not stop publicity and communication with the public? |

What are MS up to ... They really have lost the plot.

I thought Project Spark was excellent btw. -
Same. I liked Project Spark despite the amount of crud it had overloading the servers. I found it far more enjoyable then little big planet and other creative styled games. -

Registered 12 years agoDidn't Team Dakota get nixed a fair while back? I feel like that has been known about for a while. As for the rest, they're all Hololens studios anyway. They're probably being consolidated or rebranded. -

Other then Rare, I don't think I have much interest in the other stuff now. Halo is okay, but I can get my FPS thrill from other games and the only other interest would have been Fable 4 (providing they drop the system from 3).
Although, couldn't MS still make Fable just without Lionhead?

Oddly linked to memories of cancer treatment for me. As the hospital I went to was next door to Lionhead.

I can see why, but I don't think it would be a disaster as such. The Fable universe is easily flexible.

Registered 12 years agoIt's not that I don't want there to be more Fable. I don't want an interesting looking new IP being reworked into something Fable-related. If Rare (or anyone else) feel like they want to have a bash at a Fable game down the line, all good. -

Really? I thought the last few Fable games flopped (Fable 3, Heroes and that Kinect game - obv. because of Kinect).

If they did that I would just give up on gaming tbh.

Not that we know anything really about SOT but at least it looked like a new IP. Changing it to be a Fable game would be a massive mistake. -
A bit over the top there.
Why exactly would it be a bad thing to that extent? So what if it's a new name or not, it's still doing something different. Nintendo get away with doing the same thing over and over. -

The Journey was actually rather good just came out at an odd time. Would have actually been a solid Xbox one launch title and let's face it Kinect 2 needed something after KS:R delay.
Heroes was also a xbla game that sold around half a mill. -

Registered 14 years agoOne unsubstantiated story that reached our desks was that Spencer had gone into Lionhead and asked it if it was too late to turn Fable Legends into a more traditional product – a story I could well believe.
When you consider they were ordered, almost certainly against their wishes, to make Fable Legends into the non-traditional F2P SmartGlass money spinner it was in the first place, this is a pretty good advert for staying independent.
Exactly the same story will be told about Rare eventually. "We know we told you to make loads of Kinect shite instead of the critically acclaimed games you were once known for. That was our fault and we're sorry. Now pack your bags and fuck off to the job centre". -

Registered 14 years agoHeh. Anyway, point is, Rare got significantly shitter under MS. We'll never know if they'd have chosen to make Kinect Sports as an independent third party, but I'd like to think not. -

I've got to be honest I didn't have high hopes for Fable Legends, but I still wanted to see it. And Fable 2 was probably my most enjoyed game of last gen, so yeah, pretty sad.
