Foo Fighters are one of those bands that I can't imagine being anybody's number one favourite band

Yet he's almost certainly a far, far better drummer than you I would assume.

When Grohl said it was a special place to be I did think he'd actually do a Nirvana cover, guess not but will show my mum the Queen cover so not all lost heh.

Obviously modern big live shows do control everything to a large degree but they should at least try and make it sound like there are some live elements.
Some of the smaller stages sounded a bit more bouncy and mushy in years gone by, but I've not checked out much coverage yet of the other stages.
It certainly does lead to a better quality sounding event but I think it loses something being so sanitised, even when I see live music in person all these pre-processing units tend to bland everything out.
    (quotes snipped for brevity)

I was watching The National (I think it was) earlier, and noticed the sound had that rosy mushy sound that marks out a live sound to me. Then I noticed they were on the Pyramid stage, and then realised I was watching red button coverage, so it must have been the audio compression giving it that sound I was craving ;)

So my top tip is, if the glasto coverage on BBC2 isn't sounding 'live' enough for you, switch to SD BBC2. It's not quite as compressed as red button, but it uses an older codec than HD.

Alternatively, turn the volume up to maximum, place your tv inside a cardboard box and then put the box with the tv inside in the shower, close the door then go out to the garden for the full experience

It's because every song they play sounds like album filler.

If Radiohead are too self-indulgent and naval-gazing, and Foo Fighters too dad-rock and MOR, what are we allowed to listen to?

    Mumford?

    GTFO

The main problem with Food Fighters is that they're a really shit band.

Any respects paid or tributes to Chris Cornell. The man had more talent and grace than 99% of those performing.

Still not right that he is not around anymore :(

Saw quite a few tributes at Download. I guess that's more Cornells type of people.

That has to be the name of a foos tribute band. If not, I'm going to form it. Once I learn how to play music and whatnot.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds the Foo Fighters painfully average.

I also find them really macho in a Donald Trump rally type WOOOOOOOOO way.

    Sorry Foos. Harsh I know.

Also. The Jacksons were frightfully bad.

And what the hell happened to Liam Gallagher's voice? Too much pre show chaz perhaps?

And as for Rag and Bone man. I hate his moaning drivel. It's like the commitments all over again. Utter
    Pish..

The way people go mad over such dross. It's like they've never heard music before. It's like the Duffy craze. Shite!

His singing style is pretty hard on the throat. Combine that with years of drink/drugs/fags and that's what you get.

@thelzdking indeed. But he sounded pretty good when he popped up at that Ariane Grand whatserface gig.

Foo fighters used to be alright. Then they just got very very safe and boring. Then wasting light was quite good. Then they did a dad rock album for some reason.

He can still do it most of the time, but if you compare it to ten years ago he's a lot raspier. Then when he has a bad day it sounds awful. It happens to a lot of singers TBF.
