Thought killers were good. Good to see an actual band headline

I'm just hate seeing so many young happy people in one place to me honest. Bastards don't know how lucky they've got it. I guess I can draw some happiness from the fact their life should probably be downhill from here on and none of them will ever be able to get on the housing ladder. Although Glastonbury is one of the most upper middle class thing going.
Considering it's harder to get into Glastonbury than on the housing ladder I think they'll be fine.

Watched Liam and Killers. Both just woeful singing. I know they're not known for it but it's bordering on tone deaf.

Take heart from the biggest crowd to ever watch a band or act at the festival being 300,000 crusties, hippies and ravers gatecrashing the site to watch The Levellers in 94 then

    @Armoured_Bear
One thing they did, well Brandon Flowers did was Crossfire. The track was pretty good but the video was excellent. Due to the stunningly stunning Charlize Theron ;)

Hot Fuss has multiple full on bangers and is genuinely very good.

But the band they are now couldn't have the edges smoothed off any further

The songs are anthemic and everything,so I can imagine it being good fun,but Flowers can't sing for shit. Still, encores with Marr and the Pet Shop Boys is cool.

If you wanted bangers, you should have been watching the chemical brothers. Their set was legitimately mind blowing.

Watched the Foals set, thought they were excellent. Guitarist’s fingers were shredded, blood all over his guitar the mad lad.

Has anyone else suffered the 'it was better in my day' this year? I probably have for multiple editions now.

Thinking about it though, there are some class acts there, but presumably you'd be spending 95% of your time feeling inconvenienced by the colossal size of the place and all of the people now attending.

I'm guessing "my day" is the 90's / early 00's for most people here, in which case there's absolutely zero argument to be had. I'm not even there and it's inconvenienced me by being shoved down my throat everwhere I look in the media at the moment, aparently the Pet Shop Boys joining The Killers on stage was headline fucking news worthy for the BBC.

I only went the once but 2000 was a pretty good year :-)

Not been that taken this year. Enjoyed The Comet Is Coming on catchup last night but only watched a handful of songs from other artists.

We take the kids to our local festival (Bearded Theory) every year and to be honest it ticks all the right boxes. 10000ish visitors, enough space, enogh toilets and some decent names across the stages.

This year we had Reef, The Cult, Little Stephen, to name a few but also some cracking finds like The Dreadnoughts.

We have Victorious near me that I've been to every year for the last few. Good acts, if not quite on the 'cutting edge'.

Last year I missed Prodigy though as it was a frikkin' monsoon and as I had a really sore throat I thought lots and lots of whiskey would help. It didn't.

Really like their new album so I'll be watching the set after work. Cheers.

Had The Charlatans been replaced by, well, Charlatans?

I was never a big fan but I have a hazy recollection they could put a song together.

Perhaps the lead went awol so they grabbed someone from the crowd, stuck a wig on them and told them that o sing what they wanted?

Babymetal are on the Other Stage today.

I like two of their songs quite a lot but I do worry that admitting that might mean I get put on a list

There seems to be no real movement of any sort at the moment - I guess grime but I’ve grown up with grunge, then Brit pop then the strokes/libertines/arctic monkeys. It does feel like that for the last 10 years there hasn’t been anything like that, but that might be just age,

It does feel like the bottom of music has fallen out of music a little bit. Radio 1 as gone so commercialised it ridiculous. BBC radio 6 is kind of what R1 used to be, but with streaming and instant delivery it does feel like nothing as been allowed to grow. Been saying for a while that metal/rock festivals whist having some of its best years in terms of quality album wise are in danger of becoming extinct because they still rely on the same acts that headline festivals 20 years ago. Only really Biffy Clyro have made that jump and nothing is really coming through.

I hope Glastonbury won’t keep trotting out Liam Gallagher in another 20!years times

I get the feeling that a lot of interesting stuff that would have filled the day and evening spots on the two big stages has been moved to higher on the bills at Park, Avalon and John Peel

There were probably more people in “my day” thanks to an easily breached fence system

@elstoof 94 was the biggest attendance but since the big fence went up and ticketing became a Soviet lottery they've kept to stable without a hundred thousand gatecrashers for a coupe of decades now
