After today's leak it seems that Kratos will be taking on the Norse gods. Sounds like an epic direction to go in.

    Thoughts?

God of war in Norse mythology sounds great but do we need more Kratos? How about a different protagonist? Maybe a Norse one.

But then would it still be GOW?

The Greek god of war is Ares, who Kratos kills to get the name... You'd just need to do the same to Tyr or whoever the equivelant is to make a Norse game with a new character make sense with the same name.

Kratos is a great character, I doubt they'd be able to create a different character that would prove as popular.

I don't think he's that great a character. I mean, he's good at being angry and screaming people's names at them, but that's about it really.

But I do enjoy the God of War games a fair bit so am up for another. And moving it into Norse mythology would be a welcome change.

Kratos as an awful character - he's the main reason I started to lose interest in the franchise.

You can only smoulder with generic rage for so long - half way through GOW3 I was rooting for the gods.

There's no reason to use Kratos for this. You could easily create a new Norse character to fill the roll who'd actually fit with the material.

Yeah id go for a new character, like an angry and scruffy Thor :)

I just hope they knock the visuals out the park ss they did with GoW3, the first level on that game is incredible to watch.

An interesting article that argues Kratos should not be in the new game.

Think they said after GoW3 that their plan was to have Kratos going around murdering all the deities of different cultures like an angel of death. So expect to see him take on Anubis in GoW5.

Kratos lost me when his motivation for revenge turned into flat out sadism, but he's always been a shit character. Give him some vague motivation for disemboweling everyone and one lunatic is the same as another.

That was an idea by Jaffe, iirc, and he left the series after completion of the first game. It was never a "plan".
    Either way, it's dumb.

They could easily create a new hero, and start a new independent trilogy. It should be defined mechanically, not through character that's specific to a time and place that they're no longer using.

I would've liked him going after Jospeh Smith, the prophet of the mormon faith in this one. That would've been a nice and different path to go down. Oh well, maybe for 5.

Could be a launch title, and graphical flag waver, for the PS4k?

Would be great to see multiplayer story co-op in this one, at long last.

We need a modern Golden Axe, and this series already has everything apart from co-op.

I don't mind Kratos coming across from the other games, but surely there'll be someone he can team up with. Ideally two or three new characters, for 4-player games local or online.

I really need something to bring me back into modern gaming, and it's not going to be an FPS or another single player God of War. I didn't even finish part 2!

I agree that Kratos story arc was pretty much done after the first game, but the lack of motivation for the following two honestly led to me loving how irrationally pissed off he was.

It might have got tiring after a fourth one though. If they're completely moving the setting though they could come up with a plausible new premise for Kratos, kind of like a reboot.

This wasn't what I expected in terms of the game play direction they've gone in. Just thought it would of been more of the same.

Only just finished playing 1 + 2 in the past week or so and I'm not sure what to make of it.

What a way to start the conference, with the orchestra playing, some woman having an orgasm while pounding her drum. The God of War violence meets Skyrim, pc mod type eye candy, but on PS4.

Then the feels when the little one had to have help to do the job.

This not only got put on my radar, but it broke my radar.

They've replaced the voice actor for Kratos. I actually think it's not a bad idea. I love Kratos as a character but they had to develop him in some way, he was very one dimensional.
