It is. People were moaning that the on screen wheel wasn't matching up with their wheel. Whatever they've done has fixed that.

I guess they're fucking around with that setting between cars then...

Same goes for me, I'd prefer the wheel and hands weren't even there. Having said that, my ideal viewpoint isn't quite catered for. The one without the wheel seems a bit too zoomed in - you can't see all your mirrors. But the one with the wheel and hands showing is perfect for that. Bah.

You can adjust the FOV between 50 and 60 degrees - think the default is 55. Try 60 in that wheel-less view.

@Decks Thanks, currently have racing line off and everything else like traction control on.

Are there any other racing games on Xbox worth getting now I have a wheel? Project Cars?

Project Cars and Dirt Rally were what I picked up shortly after buying a wheel. Plus you've got the Forzas of course.

Try turning stability down to 0 as Oli suggests in his review - the cars just seem to drive better (not necessarily harder) like that.

I dod try that and I was all over the place. Need to feel comfortable with the wheel before turning stability down.

Honestly just turn all that shit off, it's just going to hinder you learning how to drive properly. Turn stability off, have everything to factory and just do some laps until you get used to it. Start with something easy like one of the slower Lotus. Having all the assists on just deadens the handling and you're never going to get a feel for it. If you're losing the back end a lot you're putting the power on too quickly. Throttle control is a huge part of it.

You're probably right, I will give it a try at some point.

Old but no, only games released on the Microsoft store can use them as far as I know.

Update on the PS4 now available. Includes custom championships, private lobbies and a lot of other additional fixes and a few new cars for those who have the 3rd porsche pack and a new track called Highlands was part of the latest update.

Amongst the news of Assetto Corsa Competizione which is basically the official game of GT3 racing Kunos has updated Assetto Corsa to 1.19 on the PS4 with an Xbox patch/update now in submission.

The update contains Laguna Seca and a bunch of cars including the Lamborghini performante which sounds great!

Anyone still playing this? Great work by the Devs to support this game over the last couple of years.

    Yeah still playing this regularly.

That update is nice (already out on PC since around Christmas) especially given it's free. Had a Laguna Seca mod installed but happily replaced it with the official version.

I bought every single DLC available and will continue to do so, they got the bits that matter spot on, quality product.

I'm playing on Xbox One and can waste hours just driving around the same track.

I'm only on a cheap wheel with no FFB (Ferrari 458 Spider), and it's still fantastic. I'd love a good wheel though :)

I managed to pick up a G29 with Shifter over the Xmas period for cheap, then matched it with a wheel stand pro + shifter stand.

Just lapping in any car in manual utilising the clutch and shifter is amazing. As others have said, the handling model is sublime and offers a level of immersion I never thought possible as a kid playing on a C64 or pumping my spwnding money into Outrun at the local arcade!

    Excellent game.

If you spend a lot of time with the game getting a decent wheel is totally worth it.

I originally played it with a pad and with the right settings it's very playable, but a wheel with FFB completely transforms the game. Hot lapping in the same car and track combo for hours just doesn't get old. And the AI on PC (can't comment on consoles) is actually pretty good once you get past the start and first corner.

I only got my wheel late last year so I'm still on this. Working my way through career mode but it just randomly jumped from 6 lap single events to a full on season with practice, and quali and 20 lap races, in the open wheeled cars, and the AI definitely seems to have taken a step up, so it's thrown me for a bit of a loop.

Great to see another update though, look forward to it hitting Xbox.

I'm in the same boat, I got my wheel in December and this was the game I always planned to play first.
    It's been great.
I'm still in the 6 lap events but also doing some custom tournaments to play DLC cars and tracks.

I'm planning on trying some of the modded tracks in the future. You can basically get a full F1 calendar downloaded

I have it, yes the G29 works. Yes the console versions are pretty bad.

Anyone looking in, Assetto Corsa Competizione is due for release this afternoon. I've had it on early access since the beginning but haven't used it much as the optimisation hasn't been good for VR, hopefully there are optimisations in version 1.
  • Deleted user 30 May 2019 06:29:42
Well they released it, but it still feels like early access. I had a fatal error and needed to shut down my whole system. Seems to be very unoptimised at the moment.

Played ACC for about 3 hours last night and had a blast for the most part. Triple screen support is still a bit janky (UE4 limitations apparently) but it ran pretty well. Odd moments when the physics feel off like insta spinning off certain kerbs and some slow motion slides off the circuit but other than that the racing is superb and the dynamic weather and day to night transitions look amazing.
  • Deleted user 30 May 2019 09:43:53
What system do you have? I'm running an AMD R9 and performance at Monza is pretty brutal where as Barcelona seemed much better. The ai seems to need a bit of work, seem very slow in the slow corners. But I wouldn't say it runs particularly well at any circuit.
