ACC is brilliant on PC as long as you have a meaty PC of at least recommend spec.

Registered 17 years agoYou can refund on Xbox if you played less than 2 hours. Enough time to figure out if the pad controls are shit or not. -

Registered 13 years agoI’ve given this a go on Xbox. I like it so far but not without some issues getting it to recognise my G920 wheel. I had to reload it a couple of times and then update the wheel (which I think was the problem) before I got it to do anything.
Wheel teething problems aside, It drives really nicely in the hot laps I’ve done. -

Registered 17 years agoCredit where it's due, the pad controls arent utterly terrible. I won't be setting the sim racing world alight or anything using it, but at least I can drive straight and go round corners this time.
The AI might be slightly suspect though. Need to crank it up a bit and see, but I did my first race at 85%, which I thought would be a decent starting challenge and was almost 10 secs a lap faster at Spa... -

Registered 13 years agoIt’s hard to say if the driving is better than AC, but I already beat the pitifully slow lap time on Nurbergring I had on there. I’m enjoying it though, but that’s after only about 1.5 hrs of play.
Got a shiny new wheel coming tomorrow, I’m sure that’ll make me faster. Or not. -

Registered 17 years agoIt's a shonky port with horrid frame rate variance and stutter, which is a shame as you can tell that under that there's a great sim.
One X1X it's running at 4k and about 25fps with s-t-u-t-t-e-r

Registered 13 years agoYeah I’m on X1X and there’s a lot of stuttering when you watch replays definitely, but I’ve not really noticed the frame rate much when I’m playing.
I don’t think I’m that sensitive to frame rate issues though, especially since I don’t play games on PC where 60+ seems to be the norm. -

Registered 17 years agoYeah, I'm guessing that must be a replay issue. I've done a few full field races now and haven't noticed any stuttering like that. Frame rate seems to be stable in race from what I can see. -

Registered 13 years agoI’ve only done hot laps so far, but there are special events you can run as well as a career mode. Not sure how in depth it is.
I really like how it teaches you to drive the tracks. There’s a pace indicator for each corner/section and it tells you if you’re driving too slow round some parts. Really good feature. -

Registered 17 years ago@Decks theres championships of varying lengths ad a carer mode which has a driver school test, and teammates thingies,
The racing against AI seems pretty cool, better than Pcars2

Registered 13 years agoI got my new Fanatec CSL wheel set yesterday, which feels amazing on the original AC and Dirt Rally, but works like crap with ACC sadly.
It seems to be more of a problem for Xbox rather than PS4 though (see Jimmy’s video KD linked, so his seemed to work ok for him) but they need to patch that sharpish.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t have Fanatec adverts all over the courses. -

Quite tempted after watching that. I'll probably pick it up once I'm done with TLOU.

Registered 13 years agoYeah likewise, that video is making me think it's time to dust off the wheel. -
Bought ACC and the 4 track DLC as part of the current Steam sale.
At first I was sceptical about it being quite limited in terms of content, but it's certainly quality over quantity. I played AC1 just prior to booting it up, and the handling definitely feels tighter for way of a better word (I own a T300 incl. pedals). It's an absolute joy to drive the cars, which do feel distinctively different from each other (only tried a few). The attention to detail in terms of functionality and visuals is fantastic.
The graphics are amazing - the rain effects and night lighting feels almost photo-real (thankfully I can run it at Ultra), sound is great also.
Did a couple of single player races and the AI seems very clever - unless I'd drive like a moron I did not have any incidents with them crashing into me at all, they even yield in corners if you don't give them the space, but they will keep pushing. The flow of the field felt very natural and consistent with no apparent sections within a track where you'd be able to cheese a few positions (like slow cornering etc.).
I think I'll play this a lot more than AC1 going forward - glad I bought this instead of one of the F1 games (which were a contender as I was in the market for a -racing- rather than driving game).
Really want to get my teeth into the competitive aspect of it, improve my driver ratings and eventually try MP. Recomeded. -

Registered 13 years agoI’ve been really enjoying this on Xbox, aside from my previously mentioned wheel grumbles. I’m still building up my ratings before I try the multiplayer, but it sounds like the fact they have those in place means this is less of a crash fest going into corners than some other games. -

Registered 16 years agoIf you find a server with sa-requirements of 70 or higher, races are usually pretty clean (no divebombing). Competition servers are good as well, but pretty buggy to get into.

Registered 17 years ago@Slint1000 Yeah performance issues aside, it's fantastic, some of the best AI racing I've had - as mentioned not obviously artificially slow. And such a joy to drive that tackling a 3hr race was something to look forward to. -

Registered 6 years agoOh the AI is good is it? What's the actual issue with the performance, just that it 30fps or is there other stuff going on? -

Registered 17 years ago@Decks some frame pacing issues that can hopefully be sorted. and the fact you have to plug and unplug your wheel each sesh for it to be recognised.
AI is on a percentage scale so easy enough to tweak to your pace -
There used to be some cross forum stuff with RLLMUK on F1 back in the day which was a good laugh so if anyone with the PC version of ACC fancies a THU night race Q @ 20:10 R @ 20:30 BST 45min race then head over and pop a post in the ACC Discussion thread. Brands Hatch this week, at the moment it’s just race by race but there’s plans for a Championship starting in August.
Standard is varied from those who’ve been racing in ACC since EA to those who are new to it but it’s just about fun clean racing.
