You don't know how long X minutes is, because I haven't told you. Think on that. -

It's more in the case that your phone gets stolen from you whilst/just after you've used it. X would, in a town centre, give you enough time to visit the local apple store and buy an idevice. So the difference here and a contactless card is that the contactless card transactions are limited to £30. Here, during X, they are not limited.

Registered 18 years agoThat does seem slightly flawed. Should at least be an option to need to unlock fully for every purchase, if that's what you wanted to do. -

So much anger. Why were you biting your fist earlier in the thread?

I'm not in the NDA. I can't define X because I don't know precisely what it is, but I know the ball park. If I'd said "it's 10 minutes", then someone would have followed up with "well my experience is that it didn't work at 9", and how would that have helped the point I was trying to make?

Registered 16 years agoBecause I'm an NDA'd IT consultant for a large bank.
And you would know if I was angry. -
Finally ditched my first ever credit card, many years old, for one with a much lower APR (tend to pay it off every month if I use it anyway) and Android Pay support. The future! -
So does this work anywhere that apple pay is accepted, or only specific places that Google have mentioned?
Tried it in a 'spoons the other night (phone unlocked and app open), but absolutely nothing happened and I just fished my debit card out and used that instead... I've had the same issue every time I try to use my credit card for contactless payment even though it's got the logo, so I guess there's something a bit iffy with it. -

Registered 20 years agoIt should work anywhere they take contactless. Having said that, Sports Direct wouldn't work for Android pay, but was fine seconds later with a contactless card. Wierd.
Perhaps nick can explain.

This works anywhere that contactless debit cards work. It's not tied to specific retailers.

Presumably they've not bought in to Android Pay. Like Barclays took fucking ages for Apple Pay -
Living the dream - got my new card and activated it online, registered for internet banking with another telephone activation required, got an email after that saying my registration was successful and that they'd send an activation code via post within 10 days so I could actually use internet banking.
Added the card to Android Pay which ended with saying I needed to verify my card by calling Lloyds, called Lloyds and got transferred three times finally to someone who said my card was now verified for Android Pay. Android Pay still says 'verification needed' and that I should call the card issuer.
Kill me now. -

Registered 19 years agoFor me, oddly, it only seems to work about half the time. A couple of times it's needed me to try twice. Today it said "please only use one contactless card at a time".
Definitely not quite there yet. -

I'm sure they'll catch up eventually, then I can see how good this new tech is. -
Used it at Subway, worked flawlessly. Do I have to unlock my phone or can I just press the standby button (bringing it to the initial screen that shows date/time on my s6)?
