I don't really understand what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing with the soul core stuff.

Saw the credits tonight, final boss was the easiest of the lot. All kodama, springs and soul cores before the end too so only the weapon grind left in terms of the plat (and a mission or two).

Have Odachi'd my way through it all so the grind may be long.
Is the final boss this prick with the red eyes ?

Super basically, they are a stack of buffs and a special move. Some moves are worthless but the buffs make up for it.

Like the kodama soul core. Itís yokai ability is, obviously, useless but it will give you 10% bonus on your kodama blessing, so your Amrita gain, if you choose that, gets boosted up to 35% or whatever (which is partially why Iím over levelled).

The snake that everyone rolls with has a good special AND it gives 20% damage buff against poisoned enemies, so itís great for lobbing a poison shuriken and then steaming in.

The soul fusion thing basically just buffs the buffs if you fuse two of the same type together.

Resting rites just dumps old cores for crafting material and shiftling levels.

Actually I knew most of that, the soul fusion thing was what I'm unsure about. What's the point of the human souls you can fuse, it doesn't seem to do anything? I assumed I was missing some level of understanding.

They are just a universal buff. You can use them to upgrade any type.

I think they change the attunement type, too (if you fuse a feral mortal core to a phantom yokai core, the yokai core becomes feral)

Latest patch nerfed the snake core, only one use not two and one reversal when used. That makes sense in terms of it being less OP but now I'm left with a need to find the new best core skill.

Yeah, itís been hammered. It also hits one less time.

I like mezuki(?) as itís a good panic button. The wall is decent, too.

Stopped using the snake a while back as i love the flying bolt and kashu cores. Normally have koroka as well. I think the kashu one had a buff actually, it's awesome.

Finished it last night. Just got two sides to mop up. Fucking brilliant and surpasses one imo. Only low point was that cowpider. Everything else was great.

Have you got the kodama soul core? Thatís probably quite easy to miss.
I had to go farm the different magic heads and the two slimes, they never droped for me during my play. There is a list, if you go to the soul core menue at the shrine and then do the filter option. Then you can press ond some menue option that shows you the list. i cant recall it better anymore.

Cleared all of Ng+ now and am into my tonfas. Tempted to go back to the first game and build a tonfa William! Never did play the last dlc...

The DLC is really good. The ending of Nioh 2 kind of assumes youve played it so it would add a bit more context to that.

Thatís not surprising as I found nioh 2 (to what I played of it) to be Nioh extended dlc

Tonfa damage feels a lot lower in the first game, gonna build something else, maybe Kusarigama or Spear never used them beyond proficiency targets...

I got most of the way through NG+ and have more or less perfected my build, so I did random encounters for a few days and then just parked it because I cant really be arsed to do another build.

Moved straight onto the surge 2 and had to remap the buttons because the muscle memory is too strong to cope with dark souls shoulders.

Dunno how the fuck people finished this so quickly. It just never ends. Just hit the fifth area and feels like I've been playing it for 6 months.

Between my post above and now, I literally this minute finished the Surge 2. How do you not finish things quickly in this day and age?

Surge 2 rating out of 10 Nick? I have it downloaded but I'm lacking a bit of patience at the moment so I will bounce off it if it annoys me.

It's a solid seven, Achwel. It's better than the first one in every department and goes for a souls style huge, interconnected map this time. They did massively over complicate it, though and it makes it genuinely annoying to find your way around sometimes. Every area has like half a dozen different ways to get in and out of it.

Other than that, the story kind of runs out of steam half way through and the enemies are a bit samey, but it's pretty good fun when you get into it and the combat is great.

I really shouldn't have gone straight into another game like this immediately but, oddly, the only games I want to play atm are souls likes. It was either this, code vein or the shooting one.

@nickthegun I'm tempted by the "shooting one " New dlc for it has just been released as well.

Remnant? It's not bad actually. Certainly had me hooked until I finished it but ti was very much a case of "this is my weapon and armour etc" at the beginning of the game and not really much option to switch things up as I went through it.

That said I'm still tempted to see how much / if anything has changed since I played it through which was pretty much at launch.

There's another gun one called Immortal unchained I think. Looked quite interesting. A bit low budget but thought it may be good for a play. Maybe in a sale though.

@wuntyate Remnants in the weekly sale so i'll give that a go. The other one you mentioned looks to have a bit of a Souls/Mass Effect vibe to it. £13 on Amazon for consoles so worth a look.

Remnant is co-op focused I think and immortal unchained is sp only.

Remnant is playable in both, absolutely no need for other players.
