I think I already know the answer but... When replacing the regular disc version of the BF1 with the digital BF1 Revolution. Do you need to download the entire game or does it just update the data that's already on the hard drive?.
It shouldn't require a download with luck. Moving from a game disc, to playing digitally via EA access doesn't at any rate.

Having finished the rather 'meh' mass effect andromeda, i'm about to start this, so hope it's ok.

Bit of a slog through campaign first, then on to the multiplayer. I didn't really take to that in the beta for some reason, despite loving many BF games, so hope it will stick with some further play this time.

Really enjoying this at the moment. Much better with the reduced grenade spam.

Just finished campaign, so will venture into the meat & potatoes of multiplayer later on.

I expect a right battering until i find my feet.

    How's the scrap drop rate?

It's actually pretty good, I've got back on this since tiring of it around June. I definitely seem to be getting more scrap than before. I'm still non surprised at the massive amount of medics who don't revive people.
  • Deleted user 2 December 2017 22:14:36
I haven't played for a few weeks so that's disappointing; I love playing as a medic and reviving is the medic's r'aison d'etre. Bien sur.

I'm looking forward to the next DLC; think I'm done with the russian one.

WTF is this about- playing via EA access and am earning no exp per game and it keeps pushing me to get premium saying i'd have been level 5 if i had it after one conquest round.

It claims premium trials are now active on the home tab. Is this stopping me progressing, or can i not level up using ea access on this at all? Either way it is a load of balls.

Can i stop the premium trial and level up?

I'm not getting war bonds either. But kills and ribbons etc are being counted.

Nvm. Was playing on maps the premium trial let that happen.

On old maps it works just fine.

Gallipoli huh, 5 operations in and haven’t seen anyone get past the third sector. The combination of dreadnaught and battlecruiser takes up 8 players, seems to make a difference in attacking

Wonder if the maps are any good... I've enjoyed the ones I've played from TSNP, but Tsar's ones seem really weak to me.

The new Browning LMG is a blast.... at medium ranges, obviously. If you liked the Perino, this is the same, but with more bullets (and slightly higher damage).

They are both a Benet Mercie with more ammo.

Got this last week and managed a couple of multiplayer sessions since. Today, afternoon off and absolutely unable to connect to servers. I choose a server and it goes to the Loading Game screen, pauses and then declares “Server disconnected. Connection to EA timed out...etc”.
Managed to connect to one, empty North American server once.
Have done all the bollocks- power cycling router, PS4, pissing about with plug and play, shouting a lot. Internet connection test fine on PS4, open NAT and other multiplayer games work.

    What gives? EAlol or what?
Is there a server status page somewhere?

Hate both the new maps. One is just a remake of argonne forest so just a boring grenade fuck fest, while the other would be fun but it's like Dice didn't think to consider sight lines at all when designing the map.

@Duffking yep, Gallipoil is a pile of poo... Although liking the new guns - worth it.

    Annoyed.
Completely unable to connect a week ago, wasted a couple of hours messing about, never solved it. Then multiple play sessions that were fine over several days even though nothing had changed. Now, a new day, I’ve a couple of hours spare and I’m back to the “server disconnected” messages over and over, cannot play.

Is Battlefield known for this or am I going crazy? EA servers just occasionally refuse you connections?

I've been playing bf a lot this week can't say I've had any server disconnected issues although I have noticed a ton of high ping players on the EU servers now. They're just teleporting all over the place it's fucking irritating.

I can join completely empty, or near empty servers. Which is, well, useless.

@mothercruncher I'm on PS4, London, I've had no problem in joining games. My ping is around the early 20's, some playing as high as 100 or so, not sure if this really helps, but must be frustrating for you!

I don’t want to give up on it because I can see it’s a great game, but, again, spent two hours pissing about today with it- all the DMZ bollocks, even connecting a long Ethernet cable directly up to the router, endless configuration/DNS shite and no joy.
I bet tomorrow it works despite nothing having changed my end. Lots of others with the same problem and it goes right back through the Battlefield series, just glad I waited and bought it used so EA haven’t been paid by me. It a chance I’m buying the DLC though now :(
Fuck EA, fuck Dice and and fuck anyone here with a working game*.

    * Joking- half fuck you.

I must say the game was pretty damn stable when it first came out, every update they've subsequently made seems to break something, then they put out a fix then break something else. Still, there's so much going on in the game that I'm not surprised.

This was the first BF game in ages I didn't buy on release, after the utter shit-fest of BF4. We're all used to the usual clusterfuck on release, but that was something else.

Played BF1 much later via EA access (waiting until mp would/should work) and enjoyed it immensely, so am back on for the next one, but i can totally understand your frustration.

May fire it up later on xbox and see if there's issues there too.

As the Premium Pass is on sale for £12 on the PSN store, I'm toying with getting it for the new maps. (I haven't had any of the DLC).

    Is it worth it?

@Zidargh I got the Revolution edition for Christmas after owning the base game on release. What I've played so far I would say yes definitely worth it.

12 quid for all the DLC is great value if you love the BF1 base game. I reckon They Shall Not Pass is the best so far and has some cracking trench battles (although I think one map is available to all). It's got my favourite operation and features the battle for Verdun.

In The Name of the Tsar is also great. It introduce proper amphibious assaults on the Albion map which is a cracking map for Rush. Not a huge fan of the operations though.

Turning Tides is half launched and seems to focussed on naval warfare so should be quite different when it's fully released.

I think one more is coming.
