Anyone watching this? Semi-finals are 10.05. and 12.05., finals 14.05. Could get pretty nasty. Reviled Russia has a good chance of winning this, however Ukraine is going to unite anti-Russian votes with their (entirely unpolitical, I'm sure) song about Stalin's deportation of Crimean Tatars.

Other than that, expect England performing above average (no, really!), Germany being hopeless, Cyprus and Azerbaijan losing even though they've got proper Eurovision hymn material, Romania not performing an odd power metal pop song because they forgot to pay, a Middle Earth pirate earning a crushing defeat for San Marino, and... well generally not much worth a mention actually.

But do expect drinking games and Guardian live comment.

Pfft, I love Eurovision. Not for the show itself, but because our family always gets together around that time and uses it as a weird booze fuelled karaoke party.

Christmas, Birthdays, Easter, Weddings, Funerals and Eurovision. It's basically the only time I see them anymore.

I'll be watching as always, curious to check out the new scoring. Going in blind as usual as I never watch anything other than the final. Started doing that a few years ago and enjoyed it more each time.

Got a bottle of Capt Morgans and my pizza voucher (upgrade from a 12 inch to a 16 with a side for beong a loyal customer... I eat a lot of pizza) ready.

WTF? Georgia not only has the coolest name in competition (Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz) but also a song that is actually good. Not even ESC "good" but proper good.

England won't be performing above average or otherwise as they aren't in the contest, not being a sovereign state and member of the UN in their own right.
