    I like the element of Casus Beli in Civ6, that there are several either valid or controversial reasons for declaring war.

    If that is any indication, I have good hopes the AI has already been improved. We all know that the AI frequently fails at being a good human and declares war out of the blue. By setting the reasons of war within a framework, its behavior might be based on better reasoning.

    @DrStrangelove

    Yeah, diplomacy has always been weak in Civ. I usually ignore it or accept reasonable deals when they come along.

    The most interesting parts of the game, to me, are the cultural and religious mechanics. I like the idea of conquering by cultural and religious assimilation rather than by the sword. Sadly, it doesn't appear that city states can be absorbed like this in Civ 5. Glad to see that unit stacking has been done away with. Always hated it.

    Anyone have any thoughts on the ideal game length? It's good to be able to finish a game in an evening but longer games are more satisfying, up to a point. It's heartening to read that Civ 6 'respects the player's time'. I'm not a fan of mid or late game grinding.

    I don't think going through all eras can be done in one evening

    @rice_sandwich

    I've seen TotalBiscuit and one other youtuber play it. Frankly, there is as much grind as there was in Civ5. He had a 6 hour stream, pottering about, going from the Medieval Age to the Atomic age and trying to capture 2 cities out of the 40 dotted around the land. So no, likely not a single evening.

    As for game length, dunno yet. The Civ series has always allowed its players to set the length.

    I did one final MP game on Civ V a few weeks ago. 3 of us played for about 12 hours total and we had a diplomatic victory in 2060ish I think. Felt like a reasonable game length

    Guess it also greatly depends on the victory type you're going after. If you wage a lot of war, turns tend to be very long.

    9/10 on PCGamesN, however they say in combat the AI is as dumb as ever. Elsewhere I learned that again, instead of being smarter, on higher difficulties the AI just cheats.

    Furthermore, thanks to the extended city system, small island cities are useless now, which is a bit of a letdown.

    Anyone has new informations on multiple leaders? EG said every civ will have multiple leaders, but so far I have found no information on any other than Greece's Gorgo. In that review they say it has 21 leaders, which would actually be the 20 civs with only Greece having two leaders.

    That was my understanding as well. Firaxis will add more leaders, later.

    Meanwhile, I have to sit things out until the end of the month. The ol' wallet won't suffer 60 euros right now.

    Don't buy into the hype. The feeling will last only 6 days and your version will seem outdated by both the multitudinous expansions and Civ 7. The sheen will dissapear and it'll just be an outdated trinket in either 2 months or 2 years.
    AI is still crap. To get your very official, collector's edition up to scratch, you'll probably need third party fluff. Then where's you nice pristine, self sustained box gone to? Who needs a manual and extra fluff anyway? The rest of us will survive. You're a man, you can too.

    Still trying to decide which civ to honour(?) with my first game. I'd like to choose a more conservative one that doesn't specialise too much in the new mechanics--hence no Spain with its full-on religious victory focus, although I love their soundtrack.

    Guess I'll go for Egypt, which is mostly a trader/wonder builder's civ, or Greece (Pericles) which seems pretty open-ended with mostly policy and culture bonuses.

    I've decided to go random this time. Going to do multiplayer and everyone (including ai) will be random civs. Should throw up some interesting moments. Figured it was a good way to go to start with.
