|I watched a couple of videos of live gameplay (MP) someone posted in the comments section on the front page, and it looked like a slightly upgraded GT6. Nothing more, nothing less.|

Pretty much. Makes me want to go and play Project Cars rather than Skyline Dyson wars.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... PHYSICS
Same old then? Used to be a great fan of the series, but today a new Gran Turismo is about as relevant as a new fork.

Why cant they give us a psp/vita port of GT or GT2?
I did replay GT1 and 2 on my CFW PSP a few years ago - they're great!
So this is looking a lot better at E3 - graphics are actually looking really good and I've seen a few plays comparing the latest build similar in feel to Assetto Corsa.
The sound is still shit though.
Don't think I'll ever trust another Gran Turismo game to be good again.
The way you could just bash your path through traffic like dodgems obliterated any sense of immersion and the bullshit that car manufacturer's wouldn't let them make damage models has been blown to shit in the last decade.
And I've only ever had playstations!
There's damage in this one apparently.
They just don't seem to get how much it impacts the realism, they want their perfect shiny cars to bounce off each other like they always have.
Dull, empty, lifeless racing.

That's the penalty they suffer to include so many cars in the game. Car companies don't want you smashing up their Road spec vehicles in a video game lest it damage their reputation. Not too big a deal if you're not including Road spec vehicles in your game, huge if half the car selection is.
Never really played online through any of the Forzas or GTs, career only really. I'm not sure why it seems different to competitive sports, but the thrill for me in racing is about the long process of perfecting my line on whatever track in whatever car. The race situation never appealed tbh.
Maybe that will change because I've no experience of it, but £50 is a lot to find out.
iirc I could do a fair amount of damage to my car in GT5 with the option turned on. Not that it was deformed much, or that it stood in relation to the severity of the crashes, but driveability could be noticeably compromised.

Interested to see how this turns out, graphically it does look very impressive. Nice to see that all cars have been built from the ground up too, no more tarted up PS2 models.
However, hopefully the cars are no longer indestructible and the collisions are more like actual impacts rather than the sound of a rubber duck hitting the side of the bath.
I doubt it though!
One thing though. Damage modelling is nice and everything but the best racing online against randoms is probably going to be no collisions at all.
I remember when forza 3 on 360 was out and in an official pro gaming event one guy, used as a genuine tactic, coming up to a hair pin, slowed himself down by shunting his opponent ahead into the oncoming wall. The commentator complimented the strategy.
How do you produce fair play with collisions considering this is online only?
At this point you've invested time getting into a lobby, however many laps playing well, even if they get disqualified your race is still over and you have to start again in matchmaking.
Hopefully the last 30% is adding decent sound.
This clip says everything, hopping on and off the grass and going just as quick. I'm amazed Polyphony are still around after pulling this shit for so long.

At least Assetto Corsa keeps us busy for a few months. In fact, I will probably play both for a long time, if they deliver

Those thumping a water butt sounds don't just sample themselves you know.
Polyphonic should just do the gaming world a favour and fold. I dont think anyone expects Forza levels of output but come on. What they do put out is wierd undercooked, unevolved shite.
