A full factory reset may have resurrected it. Got the turing test back on it, which boots up properly now. Queued up wasteland 3 overnight and we'll see what happens. The OS seems to be working as usual now too. Phew! Looks like my cod warzone days are over though, i don't fancy downloading 100 gb again. 😃 Hope it holds up until Cyberpunk is out, i only ordered that a few days ago! |

Registered 7 years agoCould it have overheated? Mine recently did in the very hot weather, and I'd been concerned it was having a lot of fan noise. It just shut itself off as if somebody had pulled the plug. When I restarted it I actually got a message saying it had done that to protect itself from the heat though.
Turned out the glass shelf above it in my new cheapo TV unit was reflecting the heat back at it so that's gone now. -

Registered 13 years agoI don't think so, it's in a tv unit, but open front & back.
There was rain the night before, & my missus said lights were flickering, so i wonder if there was a surge or something.
BT are prepping for gigabit fibre too, so whether connection was lost during an update or something I don't know.
I could play the turing test today, as a test & an achievement pinged, so maybe ok now.
I have installed some other stuff to try over the next few days. It seems to be running more as usual, but with the odd glitch/hitch here and there. -

Registered 13 years agoOK, now it is fried, won't even boot up anymore (although power light is on).
They've stopped making these haven't they?

Registered 13 years agoBalls. I can replace it through MS for £250+, but this close to the end of the gen, not sure what the point of that would be.
May see if i can get hold of a one s for a decent price and just make do with that.
Not sure I can even take it to the tip, since my account details will be on and can't be deleted if I can't boot it up. -

Talking of selling, any interest in a white Xbox One S with only light use since Christmas? Great nick, still got it's box and shit. Just trying to see what it's worth as I recently gone bought an X on impulse. -

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking about. I really don't know what to do tbh.

It's a pain. Gumtree has a one s 14 miles away, but given the current corona situation, do i really want to risk a trip to a random weirdos house?

Registered 13 years agoHad to get my Xbox repaired at microsoft. Had an issue where the screen would keep going black or green static on screen when trying to play above 1080p (although still did it at 1080p less frequently). Hard reset and all the usual stuff didn't sort it.
On a side note does anyone know if series X will support more previous games than Xbox one/x. I know they've been touring back compatibility alot but I ended up disappointed in the miniscule list of original Xbox games -

Registered 7 years agoWe dont know until we actually see it, but I think all xbox one games should prett much work on the series X.
See this post:

They may even have improvements beyond a performance boost (see points on HDR and higher frame rates). -

Why do you need to stop games, unless you get no joy out of it I don't see why you need to give up a hobby.
