Does anyone play tabletop RPGs? Just before I left my last home my friends had formed a group and I got quite into it. Have been playing Baldur's Gate to fill the void but it's not the same (although it is still awesome and an amazing piece of work) and I have been directed to roll20.net where I hope to pick up a group. Anyone else here into the pinnacle of nerdery that is tabletop gaming and anyone fancy playing a game at some point? |
Dungeons and Dragons etc

Registered 14 years agoI do love geeky boardgames and have been invited to D&D sessions, but I don't think I really have the time or desire to invest to heavily into it these days. 10 years ago I'd have been all over it. -

I used to play d&d. Recently bought Pathfinder and I'm reading up on that. I've also got mice and mystics to try and get the kids interested. I'm currently thinking of going to my local wargame group, but i don't have a big beard or an anime t-shirt, so not sure if I'd fit in.
I wondered about playing online and have tried in the past to dm games, but it's hard to get people together as a group. But if this gets off the ground, I'd be interested. I still have all my gaming stuff in my attic. -

I used to love tabletop rpgs. Played pretty much all through my 20s, mostly ad&d but other stuff too.
Acutally consider it one if the best bits of my life when i look back. I was young, no real problems. We started playing on satuday afternoon and played all day and tbdough the night and tben ha e sunday dinner and carry on after. I couldn't do that now im 44 i would drop dead lol
I do really miss it. I even miss the maddive arguments about rules or if the dm or charachter was sllowed to do such and such. -

If I do get back into it I'll be playing Savage Worlds. Super cheap and easy system to use. -

Registered 20 years agoDespite my uber-cool forum reputation I actually play DnD most weeks. Been playing in a group with my bro and 4 others for probably a decade or so. We are currently playing that absolute classic, X1 The Isle of Dread.
Looking to switch to 5E later this year.
All our sessions very much resemble this:

Registered 14 years agoI've run a Dark Heresy campaign before, played some Apocalypse World and should be starting a Dungeon World one as well at some point soon.
Throwing in more viewing recommendations, itmejp's channel has a lot of good stuff on it. Their Swan Song campaign is fucking excellent once they get into it. It's much a lower production value than Critical Role (which is very slick, has to be said), but has it where it counts. -

We are currently playing proper old skool Mentzer Red Box Basic DnD.
Seems that it should be fairly easy to convert the old modules to 5E which is also good. Fancy running my group through the Keep on the Borderlands and countless other stuff. -

Registered 16 years agoI actually used to play a reasonable amount when i was in 6th form as my mates were into it.
Sure it was mainly an excuse to hang out with people on weekends and eat kebabs, but it was fun.
The DMing was always of questioanble quality but also meant nobody took it too seriously.
Haven't played since then, not really got the desire to. It did get me into baldurs gate though! -
Haven't done any tabletop gaming for years. The usual suspects, age, work, other responsibilities, time. Used to be quite into it though, there were a load of us who formed a club and took over the social club in the town centre every Wednesday evening for gaming sessions. We called ourselves The V.U.C. (Vestibule of Unearthly Consultants), nothing to do with me though, a vote was held. We paid weekly subs to pay for space and held prize draws for what we could buy with whatever was left. Used to be a great laugh, cheap beer, good mates and a few pensioners sitting in the corner looking on in disbelief. You could get a game of pretty much anything though from tabletop games like Blood Bowl and Warhammer 40K and more RPG's than you could shake a stick at (from the basics like Steve Jacksons Sorcery through to Warhammer, Cyberpunk, AD&D, TORG, Palladium etc)
Ahh those were the days. -
I've played quite a bit when I was at uni mainly D & D and a three year low powered Hunter the Vigil game.
Would love to play again but all my friends are normals. Tried to find a group near me but I didn't really gel and they played on Saturday's. I don't have a enough weekend to bifurcate it with table top gaming. -
Have never played as I don't really enjoy fantasy themes but I've always been interested in the Call of the Cthulhu stuff. I see that there's all sorts of software available now to run campaigns over the internet. But I suppose it's the sort of thing that's only fun with friends. -

Registered 15 years agoI tried to pay a game on roll 20.net last night. It took over an hour for everyone to set the characters up. I played a strong but silent type because I felt a bit self conscious about role playing. The other guys (all yanks) were well into it though with funny voices etc.
The software is actually really good and the DM was doing a great job setting the scene.
Unfortunately his mum needed to use the computer and the season ended after just half an hour. I was left with that feeling you get after you have a wank over something weird. -
