| So the card game from The Witcher 3 is coming as a stand alone title according to the front page. I'd love to see it on mobile. |

I hate to say it, but i don't think the game has the depth to be a standalone product.

Registered 7 years agoIt'll be interesting to see how the game balances everything as the game made some questionable moves- particularly when playing people with rare cards, but the feeling of winning and getting new cards nullified that personally. Thinking back actually, the Gwent tournaments I entered were hard as shit. -

Registered 14 years agoCould be interesting, especially if it's going to let us play against other people. But they have a hard job of making anything as addictive as Heartstone. -
Meh. I'll just wait for my physical decks to turn up. -

Registered 15 years ago@Graxlar same, they'd have to change it lot as it's not like there's much scope for deck variety. -
Nilfgaard would win everything as it does in the main game. Still, it is a mighty addictive game so I would provably pick it up time wasting joy. -

Monster deck makes me laugh, it should be fucking brutal but they take cards from your hand and deck. So they is usually run out of cards by the end of the first round -

The trick here is to remove dupes using the redraws at the beginning of the game. And use the absurdly powerful "draw a card from your opponent's discard pile" leader ability. The "all the fucking vampires" draw is probably the most powerful draw in the game if you've only one of them pricks in your hand.

But yeah, the monster and squirrel-fucker decks are weaker than the other two. -

Registered 8 years agoEnjoyed Gqwrnt a lot and agree a full game of just what was in Witcher 3 will be a hard sell. That said this cd project red and they dont fldo things by half and what has been shown so far backs that up.
So whats what with the beta then? -

Had a couple of games of this last night. I don't know how it will stack up in the long run, the mechanics are fun but I'm not sure they're robust enough to carry a full game. -

Registered 15 years agoIt's take a few rounds to get back into it and the biggest hurdle initially was that there was (poopy) new music, but, since seeing an option to toggle the Witcher music back on, I'm hooked again. -

Registered 7 years agoDidn't know you could toggle the W3 music.
I don't know the specs but it'll breeze on a 980. Its just Gwent with a animations on the cards and flashier effects.

Registered 7 years agoYup, it's Gwent. The Eridin deck feels a bit cheap and I'm not sure I'd pay anything over 15 for it. But it's good, it's Gwent!
Makes a nice change playing against other people but I had a number of disconnects, didn't seem like rage quits as they were fairly even matches that they could have won from losing positions.

Registered 8 years agoGave this a spin last night. Not sure it is for me. I loved Gwent in the witcher 3, but this seems very pay to win. If the game is free and the only cost is barrels (that can be grinded) I'll give the campaign a go. Played about 6 online matches and won as many as i lost. Found it annoying when matched against someone who had some pretty cool card effects which made me realise not all players are created equal...
Would much prefer to pay full price, have all cards and let players compete to make the best deck from everything. But that would be as much of a money spinner I guess... and some lap this stuff up. Fair play to them, not for me - though still jnterested by what I saw ages ago about the campaign.
Cant see myself spending more than 15 on this though. -

Registered 15 years agoAbsolutely loved the Witcher version. This is a good quality facsimile of it, just quite a slog to build a decent deck. The video game version handed out new cards regularly and you really felt like you were always making progress. It's harder in this.
Very interesting, strategic game though. -

Registered 15 years agoI'm enjoying this, the added depth means it should be playable for quite a long time.
In terms of F2P, if you're in from the start I think you should be able to keep up as you can get 2 free packs a day if you're dedicated enough.
The main issue is that the starter decks are garbage and most of the archetype cards you get, you only get 2 of instead of 3. Which is weird but CDP are looking into it.
On the plus side, early on you only get matched with other low level players so it's not like you're getting stomped by expensive decks.
Plus it seems like good strategy beats brainless shite most of the time so it's automatically better than hearthstone's aggro rubbish. -
