If they stick to the "no-one left behind" thing then I don't have a problem with it.

Looks good to me. Although they've pretty much sent the Xbox One S out to die.

True 4K gaming is clearly a statement to kill PS Neo on arrival. Who's going to buy a Slim now?

Yeah why bother with an S, they trying to do an Apple with a new machine every year I know they would all love that model.

Discus is good. Don't know what that's got to do with Scorpio though.

Love the nobody left behind thing. Very interested to see how well they can deliver 4K gaming at a console price point.

A large emphasis on 4K gaming I see. Going be one expensive console.

Yep... They've nailed the best part of PC gaming right there.
Playing a game with dialed back settings, then revisiting the game at a later date when you've got more capable hardware.
No rebuying the "remastered" version, no wonky backwards compatibility... Just playing the same game that you already own with bells and whistles dialed up to 11.

I'm looking forward to doing that exact dance when my 1070 arrives

This. Bringing everything together is a good idea and regardless of hardware you play on, you'll have access to them in some way. We just need to see if they can pull it off.

As long as the promise of cross compatibility is solid then I don't see a down-side. No one will be forced to upgrade and so long as the Xbox one is the base and Scorpio an upgraded experience then all should be good.

I've gone exclusively digital this gen and should I pick one up it'll be nice to have a library still sat there.

Hmm.. Just might pop a pre-order on tomorrow.

The neo is pretty much doing the same thing, and as someone who has gone full digital since the beginning of this generation, and having a substantial PS+ library to boost, unless Project Scropio offers a more than just substantive power advantage at a similar pricepoint, it's still a hard sell.
From what we hear the Neo has 4K Video, not gaming. That's a massive difference.

Do you think Sony pulled Neo out after hearing about the Scorpio's specs? From my (limited) understanding it's quite a beast.

I do wonder how long MS actually intends to support the X1 alongside with Xbox Scorpio. Surely there is going to be a time from when games will run and look utter shite on the X1, compared to Xbox Scorpio's, given the supposedly ambitious specs?

I'll buy one because I'm A GODDAMN FUCKING IDIOT (and I get a decent Xmas bonus each year).

I'd have got an S though if it wasn't for this.

Happy to hear it has 6 teraflops of power. If it had less than 5.8 teraflops I wouldn't of gone near it. Flops are so important.

A £600 GTX 1080 can't do proper 4K, how much will that Xbox cost?

I'm just glad I'll be able to get Xbox exclusives on the PC. I don't mind upgrading that every now and then but I don't fancy buying a whole new console any more often.

@TenderChicken Possibly. I wonder if this is the real reason Nintendo backed out from showing the NX too. Nintendo were matching the PS4/Xbox and then they heard about these and went bac to the drawing board I suspect.

A pair of those new Radeons outperform a 1080 and cost less than £400

I'm guessing/hoping that all the extra power will only be put forward to hitting that 4K/60fps and hence not lead to unplayable games on original Xbox One.

That being said, with the original Xbox One being so underpowered, it doesn't look that good for current or even prospective owners...

If they'd have partially ungraded the just-announced XboxOne S to be 1080p60 capable, I'd be willing to go for it, seeing as my TV is 1080p and I have no desire to change it any time soon.

But with the situation as is now, original One is underpowered, Scorpio is overpowered (for me at least), so...
