Chapter 5 is stunning. The mountains are incredible.

Amazing aren't they. I thought that building roads in the chapter 3 area would be easily my favourite part of the game, but I think the time I spent in the mountains ended up beating it.

Yeah the mountains are great, I've been completely absorbed by the game these last few days.

Slightly addicted to building zip lines though, it's incredible satisfying turning a route that was proper trek into something extremely straight forward.

Yeah I loved the mountains. Felt properly arduous to navigate through and that section had some of the most immersive moments yet for me.

It is a funny one, Iím rather enjoying my time with it, for now. If it keeps developing then thatís fine by me but I can see it becoming a slog if things slow down anymore.

Got this for xmas. Haven't played anything else since I started it. Up to chapter 9 now with about 40 hrs on the clock.

Whilst I can see its flaws and why some people might bounce off it, got to say it's probably my favourite game of the last few years. Only botw comes close for me.

@glo Interestingly, and I think I may have already said this earlier, but I definitely got BotW vibes from it.

Just the freedom of terrain and the exploration of discovering new places. Even adding a new distribution centre was like syncing with a tower. A lot of parallels.

You must have been really taking your time as I spent quite a lot of time doing side orders and building roads and structures. Have you 5 starred all the delivery stations?

Very close, just some of the last ones revealed to do now. Also obsessively shuffling materials about in order to get every road built, now moving on to an elaborate zip line network. Itís a sickness.

How far are you into it? The game keeps on giving you new stuff that go a long way in helping.

I'm about 60hrs in now and can't put the game down. Its weird, I thought I was enjoying it a lot early in the game, but the more I play the more I love the game and don't want it to end. I think it'll end up in my top 3 this gen.

Just on episode 3, which is very long but don't mind a bit. There's a bit of bloat in the cut scenes for delivering but it's all so hypnotic. Unlocked the truck which is great. My stolen mule truck did well for a while but glad of the added payload now.

A question about road building though. Is it a case of starting a construction gets the project on-line for others to invest in or do I need to click something for it to be seen as a community goal?

I don't think you even need to start the construction, as long as you've got the immediate area on the chiral network. You certainly don't need to mark it as a community thing, no.

I do wonder how it all works. There's quite a few roads that have built up in my game but I've always completed the first road in each area on my own. After a few days off I always come back to the game with a few more roads complete and I'm constantly getting notifications that people contributing whilst I'm wandering about.

Yeah I think some of road pavers are off the grid, no resources added. Still don't quite understand but not to worry.

Also just revealed a load more people I need to 5 star, I think my resolve might be crumbling.

Gave this a good go yesterday and I found it quite soothing in a perverted way. It still has the bad points of a Kojima game, the massive info dump at the beginning coupled with constant interruptions in the gameplay. I feel like Kojima always gets in the way of himself and MGS5 was actually the point where I thought he was beginning to move on. I'll see how this goes for the time being.

Yeah mgs5 does flow a bit better as it doesnít tend to interrupt your time once you get boots on the ground, ds is like that too, but currently the time between missions can be a tad short. That said you decide what and therefore where you go so it does have the open world aspect like 5, but that seemed to hit the sweet spot with many more options as to how you carry out your objectives.

The thing I canít really get in with is the bt stuff, is very jarring and hard to understand what the hells going on at times. Iím starting to get things I can fight back with now but currently frustrating when it happens.

Iím just starting chapter 3, next time I play but it is quite unlike anything else, I just donít know where he gets these ideas from.

I love that about Kojima games, I play them as much for the convoluted storylines as I do for the gameplay. The constant interruptions add a lot of exposition, it can hurt the pacing somewhat at the beginning but it really helps the worldbuilding.

I love his world building but I feel like he used to parse it out in manageable portions before, this just threw a massive amount of made up acronyms around at me and it felt like it needed the hand of an editor to give the script a once over.

To be fair once you're over the early chunk of exposition, you're mostly just left to wander the world for tens of hours.

Is there any difference in weather or landscape at all?

It's not like a desert world, an ice world, etc. It's subtle. But yes it does change.
