Does the teacher paint their face blue and yell "FREEDOM" at the end of every lesson?

Yeah, I remember doing the Highland Clearances as well in Primary School. Fuck me, that was bleak.

We did Tsarist Russia, Bolsheviks, pre war and at war Germany and the cold war. I fucking loved that class, our teacher was one of those people that actually inspired you to do well. I remember when he showed us the entirety of Animal Farm (not the porn one) and actually got us to critically think about what we saw.

I learned more about the Highland Clearances in the pub toilet, told you about the people responsible etc. and paid your respects while pissing on them.

Fun fact: the latest "In Our Time" was all about the Highland Clearances and worth an hour of your time.

Yeah, exactly the same here (subject matter and time period). My history teacher used to love the word Lebensraum a little too much.

@askew Ohhh, I've not had Melvyn's dulcet tones in my ear for a while :) Thanks, I'll check that out.

My 9 yr old is doing it at the moment - for homework this week they have to make a model of a period weapon! He's doing a crossbow. Unfortunately his grandfather has sort of taking over, so is probably forging iron bolts to make a properly lethal device. I suggested cutting a sword out of cardboard.

His teacher is Northern Irish, so probably gets a "No Surrender!" chant in.

When Russia is attempting murder using nerve agents in public places in your country is probably one of those times you want a lot of close allies.

Quite. Especially when Russia were allegedly doing everything they could to make sure we voted to leave the EU.

    But that's traitorous Remoaner talk.

I've had stronger relationships with the toilet paper I use to wipe my arse. Strong but gentle.

Luke Harding is a great follow for all updates on this. The amount of Russian expats that die in somewhat suspicious circumstances is astounding.

New Scottish independence poll is 48 yes/ 52 No.
Clear split with age , almost 60%yesfor those under 35. Majority of under 55s for Yes.
You would think it’s just a matter of time but given that there’s no chance of them getting another referendum....

Problem is, our 'special' (oh how that term is so relevant right now) friends across the pond are also in bed with Putin.

It probably is a matter of time until another referendum, however long that may be. For the time being, however, I'd rather not have any more referendums or seismic shifts in the make up of the UK.

There's almost certainly going to be another UK election at some point soon when the DUP pull out over Ireland anyway.

If the electoral margins are tight and a party like Renew are eating into votes for either main party, then there'll be another referendum. It'll take time, but it'll happen.

Leave her alone you bullies she's all pretty and blonde and couldn't hurt anyone. What has this country come to where a pretty, blonde white woman can't come to our shores and state that brown people are a blight on the world and are destroying our western values of slavery, gross economic inequality, colonisation and warmongering. You fight the good fight Nige!

I wonder what Nige’s “keep out” campaign would be like for the Syrian author of “Christianity is for Cunts” when he’s looking for a visa, we should all be allowed to criticise religion after all

Yeah, she's really doing well to dispel the 'millennials are self-entitled twats' myth with that.
