On the principle of "it takes a spoofing-self-important-self-aggrandising-shitbag to spot a spoofing-self-important-self-aggrandising-shitbag", I give you the ever-needy Bertie trying to make hay out of Brexit for a probable Presidency run:

Bertie Ahern tries to sound like a big man by denigrating Rees-Mogg and others

Even when he's in the ballpark of being right, Ahern overreaches.

    Apologies for the tabloid-masquerading-as-broadsheet link.

We need to form our own band to counter this.

    The Backstop Boys.

I am completely shocked at this news that a lifelong eurosceptic and serial liar has turned out to be lying about in any way stopping Brexit from happening.

As depressing as it is, I did have a chuckle at the following YouGov infographic: https://twitter.com/yougov/status/1123152055684804609?s=21

13% think Change UK is a pro-Brexit party lol

So Labour's new Brexit position is to continue to pretend to be interested in a public vote while actually working toward getting a thorough Brexit?

If the leadership is going to continue to maintain its career long Euroscepticism I wish it would at least have the courage to admit it.

Donít you see it is the party for remainers and for brexiteers. They are the full spectrum of brexit voters and can make sure everyone gets what they want.

Their position has been pretty simple and clear for ages - supporting a soft Brexit including customs union membership, and if thatís not possible, then campaigning for second referendum.

Well also an election gets them out of it. And when a government is as weak as this there's always going to be the slight chance of one on the horizon.

It feels pretty obvious by now that their support second referendum isn't particularly credible. If by some miracle it happens I'll be pleasantly surprised but until then they're still a party of Brexit Cunts to me.

Iím actually hoping that they come around campaigning for the local elections so I can shock them on with my anti-Brexit stance compared to everyone else around here.

The only reason theyíre keeping quiet/fence sitting into protect themselves like the Tories.

They're fence sitting because they're scared of voters and scared of the divide between the old Eurosceptic Bennites leading the party and the younger more liberal folk who've joined up in the last couple of years.

Best for them to kick the can down the round with 'positions' like this one and hope that they never have to face the question than risk splitting the party or losing voters.

Danger is it could become what Stephen Bush called a 0% strategy which ends up pissing off both sides but so far hating the Tories, the other left wing parties and their own backbenchers is keeping the ship steady.

Yeah, I know it's not a new slogan or anything, but for a party to actually have that on their literature?
