They were told, but apparently it was all just Project Fear.

61% of Sunderland voted Leave. I'm willing to bet that percentage was replicated in the Nissan factory, despite the owners telling them it could lead to job losses or reduced hours.

They believed what they were told. It's all so fucking heartbreaking, and this is only just the beginning.
That's also an indictment of a growing amount of people who are willing to believe in anything as long as it fits with their world view. E.g. Less forrins means more British jobs. It's also an advert for why teaching critical thinking at a young age is so important. Maybe I'm a heartless cunt but the people who bang on about being a self made man, calling people on benefits 'spongers' are some of the last people to take responsibility for their own self inflicted decisions.

There won't be any lessons learned from this.

The people who lapped up the lies that the reports about potential job losses (etc) being project fear will now just lap up lies about how this is all the EUs fault somehow.

I do feel some empathy for those who will be fucked over but nobody who suckles at Murdoch or Farages scabby diseased man-teats is going to learn anything. People are stupid.

The thing is the thick gammons are (for a while now) blaming everyone else for job losses because of article 50. "Its not their fault" its the "EU being mean", "remoaners not letting people get ON WITH IT" and every other cunt excuse they can parrot from facebook or twatter.

If you worked at Nissan car factory and voted Leave, you are fucking idiot. I know some gammons with 2 brain cells (instead of one) say "but the world is moving electric cars!!!111111", the thing is they can change these car factories to electric motors

The blame clearly lies with Corbyn for suggesting the 4 day week.

Long thread (ignore the broken article link in the tweet)...

So Philip Hammond has finally said it - the entire 'buccaneering Britain' Brexit narrative is based on a fallacy.

The much anticipated free trade deals don't outweigh costs of barriers to trade with EU from Brexit

(But yeah, I'm sure this will all be argued as "Remoaner Hammond", despite the fact he's run the numbers)

@Psychotext Gammons won't read a word of that. They are only interested in listening when Farage says 'We are tired of the EU telling us what to do!' and treat that as gospel.

Seems that there as been some movement on a potential deal. Which must mean that Boris as conceded on having a backstop. Suspect Farage et al will now be snapping at his heels.

If so wonder if it is just May's deal served up yet again.

I do and money laundering is regular pastime for some people. However Andorra is moving slowly inch by inch towards greater EU integration. Even here they know how stupid it would be remove yourself from a massive customer base.

Am sceptical, reckon it's just pretending to be "negotiating" while the real plan is a GE running on the 'those evil EUers and parliament won't let me do a hard Brexit!' platform, in an attempt to snatch away Brexit Party voters.

Agreeing to some sort of deal from being at pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum would mean the EU would have made concessions, which would frankly be stupid at this stage, as they'd agree to an NI hard border which they always and consistently said they won't agree to (apart from the fact that Varadkar is not negotiating, Barnier is still our guy).

So the only solution is border in the Irish Sea and I can't see that fly either - it'd actually be a concession to the UK as the UK-wide backstop was an EU concession. And it wouldn't pass parliament either way (pointing towards a GE again).

It's just bullshit politics to avoid getting blamed for saying "no" in my eyes, for both Johnson and Varadkar. If you read the joint statement bearing in mind both parties have completely different ideas what a solution would look like, it does actually make sense. As for a deal being possible - possible =/= likely.

Can only.see it being a border in the Irish Sea. The compromise has to have come from the UK.

My very poor understanding of the demographics and politics of NI has always been: Protestants want to stay part of UK; Catholics want to become united Ireland. But especially now in these secular times there must obviously be much more nuance than that. To those who know more - putting Brexit completely to one side (let's say hypothetically it never happened), if there were a referendum in NI that simply asked "Remain in UK or join united Ireland", what do you think would be the result?
