Ah. Apologies, I was on mobile and I was pleasantly surprised it loaded so I could post. I wasn't going to risk clicking "previous page" to check.

It is funny, but I eont really get it. What are they supposed to not be able to do?

They can still retire to France, just need to apply for the visa.

Because, I suppose, it suddenly became unaffordable. Loads of things they previously got for free they now have to eat shit over, x2.

I'm sure it'll get sorted when the son talks to the mayor.

.... anyway, Anaesthesia, our youngest, picked up the phone and with her tiny 18month old voice said "Actually you will need to speak with Barnier and Johnson about withdrawing Article 50, and I suggest paying better attention at the polls"

    Everybody clapped

And confusing. My in laws lived in France for 15 years and just after the vote, decided to protect themselves with a 10 year residency permit. Even though they both spoke good French, there were things they missed/didn't have translated etc. They go there in the end but it's a total ballache, a whole load of bureaucracy. Loads of their less fluent-French friends couldn't crack the system. It seems far fetched, but nothing would surprise me.

Watching all the Tories gloating about ending freedom of movement is so depressing.

I'll never understand the mindset that would celebrate removing rights from people.

It helps if you remember that these people (Tories) actively believe they're better than others, and that those others need to be punished for not working hard enough to be them.

LetsGo would've shed a tear of joy at this news had he not been crushed in a stampede of Romanian migrants. Finally a fair immigration policy that made it equally difficult for everyone to come to the UK.

He might started an 'RIP Freedom of Movement' thread at which point we would've reached peak LetsGo.

Despite the shittiness of this announcement, and the gloating that's its brought, I'm kind of looking forwards to the imminent next immigration announcement about 3m from Hong Kong being welcome here and the gammon twitter explosion that'll go with it.

Twitter has been an amusing mix of "THAT'S NOT WHAT WE VOTED FOR!" and "This is what Brexit was alway about. They're all hard workers so are welcome here."

"Leave your office base job in Hong Kong and come pick some fruit for the wonderful Great Britain. While you live in the UK you will be subjected to much racism and some glares but we promise not to lock you up. We will arrange transport for you and your family to some unknown destination after 5 years"
