True, I remember that. Even though the one image I will never get out of my memory is the Corbmeister appearing on some TV show in a white fur coat (and that 6/10 Remain verdict iirc). |

Registered 3 years agoTheir complete lack of any opposition to a super hard, super veiny Brexit is a major contributing factor. Yet was only reason two or three why I thought Corbyn's Labour was unelectable -

I received a shipment at work, 5 copies of an industry directory we're mentioned in. We get these every year. This year it came with a 27€ bill from DHL. -

Registered 19 years agoWe sent an order to Belgium using the new DHL system last week. Seemed to go ok, some charges for clearance, bit of duty that I was expecting. Less margin, but we'll cope....
Then today, another invoice from DHL for extra duties and the whole Belgium VAT @ 21% for £1200.
I was expecting the duties (as our stuff is made in China, so isn't tariff free), but hadn't figured for the import VAT too. Our account was set up to deal with imports coming in, where we pay all that stuff. If no one pays it, it's stuck in customs till someone pays up.
So I'm sure you could argue it's my fault for not investigating the process properly....but this is what's facing 1000s of businesses. We know a bit about exporting and importing beyond the EU, but for many it might be a new experience!
Off to register as an electronic Estonian. While will take time when I could be playing Shadows of Tsu...I mean working on my business! -

That was a sex arse - went through tariff-free as a sample/gift, but still incurred customs clearance charges.

Registered 19 years ago@Salaman, sorry mate, I couldn't ship the special cleaning solution - don't have a EU or new UK chemical safety certificate. Just give it a good rinse out under the hot tap (not boiling!), and make sure it's properly dried. Apply a light coating of lube for long term storage. -

I'm easily distracted, but it's the boring stuff that makes the money!
Although I am intrigued by a video of skateboard manufacture a friend sent me from China yesterday, they can custom print just one..... And I have to keep stopping myself ordering a container of pizza spinners, those will be big in 2021! -

Registered 7 years agoBeen off work for a week, just done the fruit and veg order for tomorrow and noticed we have had quite a few substantial price increases (in some cases 70%) on goods from Europe. Delays in transportation and the weather in Spain are causing havoc. Obviously once weather improves they may go down again but hauling is no where near running at full levels either, so they may not. -
