| The attacks randomise when you evolve them. Plus some of the more powerful attacks take longer to charge so it's not just a case of keeping the biggest number. |

Registered 18 years agoUnless I find something in the next 40 mins, had a grand haul of 77 caught today.
A few on the train in, left the iPad open on my desk and caught about 15 that just appeared during the day. Went out around Victoria at lunch and used an incense and must have caught 20-odd in 30 mins, then used another incense this evening and caught a bucket load more.
Probably half of them are made up of Rattata, Pidgey, Spearow and Drowzee, but caught a couple of new ones. Also had an egg hatch which gave me Bulbasaur.
The last few were getting tough though. Even ones with a CP < 100 were taking 5 or 6 balls to finally snaffle.
/will catch nothing for a week now -

Registered 18 years agoJust need to clarify the gym situation.
I took over a Gym this morning grabbed the 10 coins and lost it shortly after.
Took over another gym tonight but I can't claim another 10 coins at any gym until the 24 hour timer is reset. Is that right? I thought i would get 10 coins for every new gym I clobber. -

Registered 18 years agoHow does the gym thing work? As a beginner, all my pokemon are pretty feeble. Are you supposed to power them up, evolve them or make them fight at a gym?
I guess I'll just wander into a yellow gym and see what happens.

8 of my pokemon got mullered by a single Vaporeon before I decided to run away
My highest pokemon is a 555 Hypno the rest are all < 200. Had to use a load of Revives and Potions afterwards -

Nope can only claim once every 22 hours I think. Need to try and find 3-5 close hope you can get them all before someone else takes them. Then claim.

Registered 14 years agoPokémon Go players discover it's just as complex as the main series
This is an interesting development, data mining has discovered a load of hidden stats for the critters.
As much as I appreciate the game has stuck a cord I hope this is a test bed and they can develop it into something less shallow (and more reliable) at the moment its on my phone as an option for the kids to keep them interested on a walk. -
I think we were all getting a bit too cocky after a day of server stability...
It's launching in Japan today, so welcome to shitsville! -

All I know is the game is usually fine in the daytime, but falls to shit in the evenings when America is most likely to be hammering it. That and the issues this morning kind of point towards regions all being linked somehow. -

Registered 13 years agoI know precious little about servers, but surely Niantic can rent a few more for this peak craze period to alleviate some of the issues?
Gearbox must have loads spare right now that are hemorrhaging money while no one plays Battleborn, so couldn't they scrape back a bit of coin by hitting up Niantic? -

Its annoying how you cant choose to leave stuff at the pokestop if you dont want it.
Fucking last day off work and planned to go on a walk as I'm completely out of pokeballs and full up on eggs. Won't even open. Shitty devs. Can't claim they don't know how popular it is now so spring for some more servers! Really pissing me off.
Potions and revives are clogging up my bags and never used -
@THFourteen Delete them from your bag then. That's what I do. I need to keep space for the odd lure or lucky egg etc. -

Registered 16 years agoAh right, didn't know that. Thanks! -
To be fair to Niantic, I doubt when they launched, they never in their wildest dreams thought they would have the most successful mobile game ever on their hands, nor that they would be used more than Twitter. I was previously staggered by how Twitter copes with the amount of information that goes through it, so I am pretty amazed this lot are able to cope, as despite their best efforts, they wont be able to just spin up more and more servers on a whim. Those take time to acquire, configure and spin up. Yes you can add extra memory and cores to a VM, but there is a limit to that dictated by the host server and new servers aren't cheap. You also have their network to consider and whatever back-end DB this goes into.
That said, I was hoping for a day of desk based capturing, so if they can get a bloody move on, it would be appreciated... -

Registered 16 years agoI do wonder about all these stats though like "people on average use the app 23 minutes a day"
Most of that is probably a hardcore minority of people who leave their app open 24 hours a day to hatch eggs. -
/feels like a hardcore minority
I've got mine running on my phone all day at work. When it buzzes and I spot it, I catch whatever is there and then carry on after spinning the pokestops (I'm sat between two). It helps that someone or other keeps popping lures on one of the pokestops. I think its probably bored office staff.
Seems to have settled down a little now stability wise. My "best" pokemon is still only 579 CP, so I'm not going to any gyms in a hurry.

I don't have it open all day (I've got one of those pesky jobs where playing games is kind of frowned upon), but easily get 30 mins of walking/pokestop swiping/rare Pokémon catching done, then maybe another hour of playing it at lunch/on poo breaks.
My best so far is an 818 hypno -
@dfunked
Leave phone on.
When it buzzes tap Pokemon.
Wait a bit.
Go for loo break.
Catch Pokemon.
I am pretty sure they only run away after you throw a pokeball. So you can leave it on the catch screen for ages. (May suffer from crashes though).
