Registered 12 years agoI think its reasonable to assume that a critically acclaimed game will be under consideration for a sequel, but I don't believe SEGA have said anything about its financial performance. I'd imagine its been fairly profitable for them, but sometimes you never know.
I'd also imagine that alot boils down to how many fresh ideas there might be for a sequel. A passion project like Sonic Mania feels like it would have all or the majority of its creators ideas incorporated. I'm sure there is stuff on the cutting room floor but whether there is enough to justify a stellar sequel, only the main man himself would know.
If it happens, it'd be at least a couple of years -
I'd just like them to "remix" all the old zones. I did find the levels I wasn't familiar with (from sonic cd) and the new zones didn't really grab me as much. -

Registered 6 years agoI think it's partly that it's quite divorced from the formula of every boss before then.
Every other has one or two attacks or patterns but this one has at least three plus the environmental hazard and it comes at you from every angle.
I've been playing this zone every night before bed for over a week now -

Registered 13 years agoI did go back it it after I posted the above and beat him first time. Did me good to have a break I think. Finished the game since and enjoyed it overall. Not sure if I fancy going back and getting all of the emeralds for the true ending anytime soon though. -

Registered 6 years agoMy eventual tactic was staying under the platforms bouncing on the oil surface to avoid most of his attacks and getting digs in when he surfaced
Two zones to go now but I'm using it mainly as a cleanser after big sessions in heavier games
The music for lava palace act two made me want to where shades at night -

I think I'd prefer a couple of new zones if existing owners are being asked to pay. Hopefully the level tweaks are noticable enough to justify a purchase. -
