He's in the trailer at a few different points for maybe 5 seconds, pulling faces of varying discomfort.

I look forward to seeing this sombre war film with a load of possibly screaming teenage girls.

    /not what it sounds like

We have all had a go at nolan for what we felt was a miscast in previous films and he has proven us wrong everytime.

    I have faith

Quite happy I don't have a clue what Harry Styles looks like.

Thought the trailer was dull. Doesn't look like anything we've not seen before. Wonder how he'll crowbar in the Inception horn.

He's the one who is pouting on the beach early on, on the left. Then almost (fingers crossed) drowning later on.

Doesn't really stand out for me but I guess a certain demographic will know him.

    What is a dunkirk (sic)

A "story" that almost reaches Daily Mail levels of prejudice-confirmation.

In this case: my prejudices about the kind of people who are fans of Harry Styles.

I wonder what veterans of Dunkirk would think about it being made for entertainment?

My wife's grandfather died at Dunkirk.

I don't see why it would be more of an issue than the thousands of other war films.

^ Don't know if it's a side-effect of getting older, but I don't really get on with Hollywood/videogame war-themed park rides anymore. In real-world settings, at least. They make me feel guilty and vaguely unsettled.

I now generally prefer stuff like Letters From Iwo Jima, which doesn't portray war/battle as empowering or thrilling, but as horror. Most war films pay lip service to the realities, but few are brave enough to stay away from the power fantasy bullshit

Edit: not trying to claim a moral high ground btw - Iwo Jima is still entertainment and I'm still essentially getting off on the excitement

Depends whether something makes light of it or not. This doesn't look like it'll do that, much like Saving Private Ryan.

To be honest SPRyan is one of those films I'm talking about - where the thrill of war takes a front seat, with a veneer of "press F to pay respects" to make it morally palatable. To be fair it is ultimately entertainment, but I guess I'm a bit more uneasy about that sort of thing these days, especially when the tone is grim or po-faced.
I'm much more comfortable with pulpy stuff like Inglorious Basterds.

It does from the trailer but they showed about 7 minutes of footage on the IMAX before Rogue One and it looked much better.

It's just showing before IMAX Rogue One screenings exclusively, isn't it?

Yep. I also think it's only on certain sized screens.

2 hours long sounds refreshing for a Nolan film.

Can we have a better sound mix and no "love is the answer to unifying quantum mechanics and general relativity" please?

    Otherwise, WW2. Fuck Yeah!

Maybe they'll change it so that hitler gets stuck behind his bookcase instead of blowing his brains out, or some shit.
