Again, why would I preorder something with no hint of a release date?
Says it ships in 2-3 weeks.

Won't let me add to basket.

I usually buy my phones outright but this price leap us making me think about waiting and hopefully getting one on contract, if Google will be selling to distributors this time.

Exactly the same as the iphone equivalent; that would be fine but it doesn't have the image that Apple have to sell them in large numbers.
I guess they're trying to build one with this escapade.

Anyway, that OnePlus 3 is starting to look good right about now...

The page at http://madeby.google.com has links to Carphone Warehouse and EE (although they don't work yet).

OnePlus 3 looks great for almost half the price but don't want to go into phablet territory

It really does seem very expensive for an even more minor upgrade than the iPhone has just had.

It's getting to the point where buying a 1 year old phone is a much more sensible option, even when money doesn't matter.

Google must be on crack, the price is way OTT for the phone especially the 5". Its not like its this amazing futuristic looking phone.

When my Nexus 4 finally gives up the ghost, might get the 5x or oneplus3

    5x is discontinued.

Think I'm gonna get a 5" pixel on contract from EE. My Nexus 5 is truly Fucked, just need it to last a few more weeks.

Google really have priced themselves out of the market, especially with the 5-inch one. I don't know why anyone wouldn't just buy a Galaxy S7 or something instead.

The 5.5-inch at least has top end specs, but Google isn't Apple. Usually I'd mean that as a good thing, but not in this case.

Carphone Warehouse says delivery by 20th October, same prices but they include a 50 Google Play voucher.

Surprised Google didn't price it a bit cheaper than iPhone to tempt us away. I was quite interested when I saw the specs and so on but as it's the same price. I won't bother moving from the superior iOS to Android.

True, though there's only 9mm in it.

I for one don't get why people buy 128GB phones.
Free unlimited storage for photos and videos. Problem solved.

Apps and games? Plus relying on the cloud while less of an issue by the year still doesn't give you instant guaranteed access to your stuff wherever you are. But mostly apps and games. This is only an issue if you use a lot of apps and games, but I do.

Google seem to be copying Apple a little too much, even the 'we know better than you' crap.

All I want is a Nexus 5 with a better camera and slightly more battery - same size plastic body, wireless charging, 5" 1080P screen, stock android, for ~350.

Fuck it I ordered one on contract, 5" version, 32gb. Have loved my Nexus 4, 5 and 7 so they've earnt my loyalty and I'm a big fan of stock android.

If anyone's interested in Daydream VR bear in mind that the 5-inch phone will be awful for it given the resolution. QHD screens are bad enough.

600 for a 1080 phone is kind of mad. You can pick op a S7 QHD Amoled for around 500 now.

They were LG and Asus made devices, though, so it's not like you have any kind of loyalty to a manufacturer...

This pricing is fucking bonkers... People should be voting with their wallets.

It is fully mental. This isn't just premium pricing, it's over pricing. It's bad enough people pay this money for Apple stuff, but at least that has a nice design and runs an operating system which, while worse, is preferred by some people.

Stock Android, no microSD slot and in the Pixel's case a 1080p screen, wrapped up in a meh body, does not justify this outlay. As good as stock is there are plenty of great launchers on Google Play if you don't like manufacturer skins.

I was in Cuba and there was no internet there, never mind any kind of access to Cloud storage. A couple of hotels had it and another couple had dated PCs in a room which could be rented out. It's not always available.

But you don't need that instant access, most apps and games are small anyway.

I used to think that way with music before the streaming services existed but found I would download 60 gig of stuff and listen to the same 3 or 4 gigs worth.

Very few need a lot of storage.

But you still need to download the music if you want to listen offline though. Cloud bullshit isn't very handy when you're stuck on the tube.
