Think I've been here since 2001/2 or so, can't remember. Not much has changed, still post far too much, mostly about football, so no fucker has a clue who I am if I do post in game threads. Barely play any games, but still like the idea of them and maintain a pretence that I play them. Usual progress in life though, got married, has kids, bought a house, moved to a small backwards island. |

Registered 9 years agoBeen registered for 11 or 12 years now (this is my second profile when I decided my username on my first was a bit poo), in that time I started and since lived through my 20s, moved to London (10 years ago last week), changed jobs a few times but overall been great .gif)
Just looked and last profile I posted on the forum 5,328 times so not far off that now.

Registered 17 years agoI joined when I was 16 or 17. Still in sixth form. The site was orange. Since then I:
Decided to take a pre-uni year to build up some funds. Took a job, decided I liked it and ended up not bothering with university. 13 years later I'm still there, now as director and part-owner.
Got a girlfriend at 18, it lasted 7 years, most of which were fairly terrible.
Found someone new 2.5 years ago, we've bought a house, got a kitten and are getting married next year. All is good.
Have watched the transition from orange to blue, embraced the coming of Portable Mode and mourned its passing. -

Registered 15 years agoMy post count is kinda feeble for 10 years.
Earliest Eurogamer memory is an article by Rev Stu Campbell justifying why it was OK for some developer to rip of Bizarre's Geometry Wars.
In these 10 years I've got married, had two awesome kids, built my own house and come to the realisation that I prefer AFL over football. -

Registered 20 years agoFun game: how much has your salary/income increased since you registered? Current Salary/Then salary/number of years registered *100 = % increase per year of registration.
We can prove being a forum member is (non)productive.

But it's weird, I didn't remember joining so long ago. Maybe I made an account for whatever reason and then didn't really start using it until later. -

Registered 15 years agoBeen a member for 10 years but a reader for about 15 years.
In that time I moved from Cornwall to London and then to Australia where I've lived for about 8 years. Married and two children, two dogs.
I've always been a bit of an underachiever but in the last year I've finally gotten a job where I'm not ashamed to tell people what I do and its going well.
Perhaps most importantly, I own a TV bigger than I ever imagined would possible when I started reading this site.

Registered 16 years agoWould have joined around November 2005 just before the 360 launched as I remember my first post was "where's the best place to get one of these at launch?"
Since then got married, had a kid, moved to the 'burbs, got my arsenal season ticket, but only 1 change of job, which i'll have been in 10 years come May 2017.
And won no fucking titles :-D -

Registered 18 years agoBeen here a long time. Think it was around 2002 when I joined. I consider myself an occasional poster, with a fair chunk of lurking.
So much has happened in my life. Degree, masters, some big relationships, left home, rented some sweet places, learned to drive, did ok moneywise through the recession, got engaged, got married, bought a house, had a kid.
Got out of PC gaming and bought pretty much every console and the major handhelds.
Its weird that its nearly 2017 and many things havent changed. My parents are still alive thank God.
Im happy eurogamer is still here despite social media and youtube. Funny how quickly tech communities can fade away.
My highlight of EG was making a thread asking someone to help me identify a tune. My description was beyond vague and someone still figured it out in two posts.

Registered 15 years agoI started reading when I was working for a game development company, so it must have been 2006 or 2007. One of the other designers was a bit miffed with what got written in an article (not even about one of our games), I went to the site to check that out and that was that. I was a Gamespot reader back then; I never even go there any more.
Nothing of note happened in my life since then. As for my salary... the less said the better. -

Registered 19 years agoBeen here so long I can't remember how long. Definitely more than 10 years though as my UID was a three digit value in the 400 range. Anyone any idea how many years that would be?
What's changed in that time? I became middle-aged and now do middle-aged things. Other than that, got my PhD, bought a house, got a dog. -

Registered 17 years agoI don't really remember when I joined, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have a PhD back then ... so at least 14 years ago. Edit: Apparently I was wrong. Must have been lurking for a couple of years before registering.
I've a few more grey hairs, had a few girlfriends, but aside from that not too much has changed (not sure how to feel about that). It won't be the same next year though - going to be a dad and get married (in that order)!
I'm very very very excited for the future. \o/

Otherwise....I think I was a scientist back in the day... I used to visit a site called FastestGamesNewsOnline several times a day, and it folded for some reason so started going to the relatively new EG for news. Stayed for the community - the forum was created to stop us talking shite in the comments, was probably off putting for advertisers they were trying to attract.gif)
Now somehow running a couple of businesses in something completely unrelated, just made it up as we went along.

Wait. I shaved my beard off at the weekend. So that's changed. Fuck yeah.
Although as my boy is only a few months older than when I joined EG. In six years, I suppose a lot has changed. He's growing up so fast
