Registered 12 years agoWarcraft really impressed me on UHD. I've got Infinity War as well, but haven't watched it yet. I just ordered X-Men Apocalypse today as it was £13 on Amazon, and that's supposed to be a very good UHD disc. -

Registered 16 years agoDon't get the curved one unless you're going to be sat right in front of it. The one I've seen in the wild didn't have a great viewing angle and his lamp reflected off it like a funhouse mirror -

Registered 12 years agoWell I finally bothered to get my TV fixed (HDMI ports giving out, if anyone remembers). The guy just replaced the main board, and now I have HDR on all three ports (where previously HDMI3 didn't have it), so that's nice. I also didn't need to bother updating it to get the HDR Game mode, so it's obviously a newer revision of the board. -
Been looking at a TV for gaming (again) my only concern is that it's possibly too big for my room and my eyes!
I currently have a 43" 1080p Sony Bravia and I'm looking at getting a Sony Bravia KD55XF9005 LED HDR 4K which can be had for £824 with potentially a further £125 voucher back, so possibly £699 and a five year warranty.
The optimal viewing distance for 55" 4K is between 4.6-6.9ft apparently but I'm just a bit concerned it's going to be HUGE and if my eyes will cope 😁
The 49" model isn't available for the offer stated so...
Does anyone else sit as close as that whilst gaming or this TV?

Registered 14 years agoLooks like nobody really talked about it in this thread. But just for the record, the new global "Adjust HDR" setting in the PS4 system settings can be used to completely eliminate any dim-HDR-game-mode issues across the board for older TVs like mine that can't do dynamic HDR tone mapping in game mode.
It used to be fixable with in-game brightness adjustment, but it's nice that it's now a global setting. -
@CompetitiveDad probably missed your window... but it is the Field of View you should think about, not whether you can see the pixels. I think 30-45 degrees should be fine, and is acceptable according to movie standards. 45 degrees for a 55 inch is 1.47m. I think generally you can sit closer for games than movies, comfortably? I have a 49 inch and I sit about a meter away often!
