I've been playing Forza Apex for a while now and I decided to hop back on GT6. I was seriously impressed by the handling and how well it holds up today. I'll even go as far as saying the physics engine (minus the collision and the visual) are better than Apex. Anybody here still investing in GT6? |
Anybody here still playing Gran Turismo 6?

Egads, you're not wrong. I bought it second hand for peanuts a few months ago, mostly out of curiosity. I swear my PS3 was on constantly for about 2 days patching.

Played it about 10 mins, pfft. Keep meaning to dust off my Driving Force GT but can't be arsed setting it up. In hindsight, wish I never bought a wheel because using a pad feels utterly naff in comparison, meaning I never play racing games any more
I put a tonne of hours into GT5 with my wheel though, to the point where the speedo was burned into my (now moved on) plasma. -

Registered 18 years agoI'm playing this quite a lot at the moment, actually, and I expect it to take up most of my gaming time until I've worked my way through the career mode.
I was a big fan of GT1, 2 and 3 but skipped 4 and 5 (not entirely sure why, guess I just felt I'd had enough of the series). Only a few months ago, possibly as a result of reading GT Sport-related news, I decided to check out GT6 and have been really enjoying it.
Can anyone tell me whether the winnings from the Sierra Rally events are repeatable? I got silver in the first challenge twice but I'm sure I only won credits the first time. If I improved to gold would I win anything? -

Registered 18 years agoYou don't need Gold in every race to progress, though, do you? Or do you just mean you don't want to move on until you've got Gold in everything?
I was getting Gold in everything up to the end of International B but it's got a bit trickier now in International A so I'm no longer obsessing over getting Gold in everything. I had a bit of a mare with the "rainmasters" events and decided just to move on as it was no longer fun.
As an aside, I do think this game looks absolutely fantastic even now (ignoring the screen tearing, which can be a bit distracting).

Registered 18 years agoHmmm. Have you done the the International B licence? It should unlock at a certain point, possibly after you acquire a certain amount of stars in National A. It's to be found on the right-hand side of the National A screen (under the coffee break challenges et al). I think you ought to be able to access it already. Once you've done that you can progress to International B.
I progressed from International B to International A before I had got Gold on everything in International B.

Registered 18 years agoThe IB licence remains locked? The IB events will remain locked until you have done the licence, which you ought to be able to access already via National A (bottom right of screen, you may have to do an event first, can't remember).
If it's not letting you attempt the IB licence then I'm puzzled; I had the opportunity to attempt the IB licence long before completing all the National A events (I just chose not to as I wanted to finish NA properly first).

Registered 18 years agoRight, I'm giving this game a rest - the third Red Bull event is driving me loopy.
I've also made it to S Class and failed spectacularly at the first event.
I might return to it in due course and attempt S Class and some of the other "non-core" events but in the meantime I'm tempted to check out DriveClub on the PS4.

Registered 14 years agoThis is my return-to game as well, it is genius in many ways (and yet garbage in many others!)
If they'd release a remastered version on ps4 to get rid of the screen treating I'd buy it like a shot. -

Registered 18 years agoI tried it the other night on my 1080p projector in 3D and it looked lovely. Great fun to play in 3D.
When I went back to playing it on my TV I got rather worried when there was no image, only audio, and panicked that my PS3 was starting to conk out. Turned out it was because the game was trying to boot up in 3D, which my TV can't display. I had to put it back through the projector to change the settings.
Seems like a bit of an oversight really - you'd be a bit stuffed if, say, you'd taken it to a friend's house to test out on their 3D TV and then didn't change it back to 2D mode before saving the game. You'd have to see if you could find out what buttons to press to get back into the options menu blind! -

Pity the online is no more but I love the single player content in this.
