Registered 17 years agoI'm also quite interested in this but think i'll wait until it's had a bit more development.
What i would say though is that if you're interested in this you may also wish to consider House of the Dying Sun, which is an awesome, tightly focused space fighter game. Can't go wrong for £15.

Registered 17 years ago@Dirtbox For now, it will come to Conslols soon. Is Everspace coming very soon then? I had thought it was a similar situation?
Oh, a quick google says it already is?

Registered 17 years agoYeah the combat options would need to be diverse and strategic to keep engagement i guess.
EDIT: hmm can't seem to find it in the xbox preview section.
EDIT2:
Xbox One and Windows 10 Release
For the last two weeks, we have also been working closely with the Xbox Team at Microsoft to get EVERSPACE for Xbox One and Windows 10 through Certification. We did some further performance optimization, fixed all technical roadblocks for the Xbox One build, and are looking forward to Approval. However, there are still some store-related tasks open before we can go live. As UWP is all-new to us, we also need a few more days to get everything working as intended. We will announce a new release date on Xbox One and through the Windows 10 Store when we are closer to having all the boxes checked, presumably before the end of September.

Yeah same here... don't see why I should buy Steam version when it has Play Anywhere. Just a few more weeks.

Yeah, early access as of a couple of days ago.
The "roguelike" aspect of everspace puts me off, it just screams repetitive. Pretty graphics aren't enough to keep me interested.

Registered 20 years agoHmm.... I'd quite like something I can use the x52 on without the complexity of a sim or ED for more relaxed gaming. Not sure of any native support.
Maybe this or Dying Sun would scratch the itch. Almost thinking a deeper Colony Wars from PS1 era would be nice. -

Registered 16 years agoIve tried the free one hour trial on xb1. Seems alright but i'm not prepared to drop 25 quid on a bare-bones game preview. And why the hell is there no GBP character on this POS ps4 keyboard? Dollar sign, yes. GBP sign? No, not even on the UK English keyboard . Wtf... -

Registered 6 years agoThought this was engaging enough, once I determined a gameplay loop of fuel, jump, upgrade ship, avoid death.
Less explore-y than ED (minus), but more accessible and guided (plus).
Dogfights were a bit arse, maybe cos aiming is twitchy with the X1 pad. Need to tighten that up before I'm interested.

Registered 15 years agoFinished a run on this last night. It's a good game curently. Needs more enemy variety though.
It goes fucking nuts toward the end of a run. Capital ships jumping in a moments notice to blast the fuck out of you while you're trying to hack a jump suppressor preacariously close to both a mine field and a black hole. -

Registered 7 years agoGot this on the weekend (playing on PC). I am hopelessly shit at it though. Had to dial it down to Easy - and then did waaay better. Still, if I ever get surrounded, I am toast.
It is a little repetitive - and it doesn't have the amazing dog fighting feel of ye olde TIE Fighter (my reference point for shooting things in space...).
But I'm going to persevere for a bit, because having unlocked a new ship I can see some new strategies developing, and it is gorgeous and there could be some more interesting systems to uncover. -

That's my reference as well, I don't think I've played a space dog fighting game as phenomenal since. Which is exactly what's making me a bit reluctant about this game.

Don't get me wrong, it looks veeeeeewy pwetty and judging by the videos it's technically proficient and the fundamental gameplay seems solid. It's primarily the rogue-like element that puts me off.
TIE Fighter was such a classic because the missions were so carefully crafted and balanced. With procedural/rogue-like elements I can't imagine a game in this genre being quite as good.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time with Elite and esp. Frontier back in the days and those were largely generated as well (although not procedural) but it was simply superceded by TIE Fighter, by a large margin, and I don't feel like taking a step back (same reason I'm hesitant about Elite: Dangerous actually) -
