    Nice one, cheers guys.

Looks like I'll be picking this up shortly then. I loved OS2 on PC, even if I got into a tangent of playing with GM mode after Act 1 and never returned.

I'm assuming no GM mode for the Switch version?

    What's GM mode?

    (that probably means no)

Yeah. You design the levels, NPC's, etc, etc. Actually used it for an impromptu D&D module with a group. It was weird, but fun!

Nope, nothing like that as far as I can tell.

Played for 6 hours now and still in the fort. (And that is discounting all the replays following dying).

Just killed some crocodiles that mullered me previously though which was nice.

Think I have done everything I can in this area. (Which is to say there are a few things outstanding but I am either too weak to kill something or cannot figure out what to do).

Worth trying to escape now then, you can come back to the fort though the guards will attack you.

Found a couple of other things and have some more equipment.

Think I am starting to get a hang of the combat. However my next attempt at the Arena is likely to prove that to be a lie.

Tip: Try and get a good mix of magic and physical damage in your party. It may make things tough-going for the earlier part of the game but it'll be a lifesaver from Act II onwards.

I find the opposite true in my play through, in that it is better to focus on physical or magic rather than a mixture as the damage should be focused.

One should get utility spells that mix with the schools, so necromancy for a rogue or healing for a ranger or whatever. Otherwise it is about melting their magic shield/armour as quickly as possible.

Ymmv, of course. I would say, my easiest run was as above with physical damage being the focus.

I've got two melee and two ranged characters, and one of the ranged characters (the bow user) can summon. I'm pretty well into Act 1 at the moment. There's been a few rough fights, but not too bad.

Teleport is the MVP of the spell list so far. It's sooooooooooo useful.

Every character should have some form of teleport at some point as it is incredibly useful.

Yeah, I'd just as soon everyone get it. You don't even need to be super creative with it, just teleporting enemy mages into melee range makes ever so much difference.

The #1 skill just pipping Teleport is Adrenaline - an absolute must for each character, unlocks at Rogue Level 1 (I think).

Can't count the amount of times this skill saved my ass.

Yep, that one is ridiculous too. I have it on both my fighters.

Yeah not necessarily teleport but you absolutely want some kind of movement skill for sure. Polymorph's wings is especially good on all sorts of characters. A Warrior can jump right into taunt range for many characters, or a ranger can jump right up to high ground etc etc.

Teleport is amazing though, I love how Larian embrace the way it can break the game entirely.

Thanks for this. I was too dumb to think of that myself!

What level are you at? Most should be doable around level 4. Assuming you haven't screwed your build and have a few decent skills.

I was 5, but now Iím 6. Caught a few lucky breaks and got through 2 encounters which levelled me up, hopefully Iím able to compete again now as all the enemies I have left are also lvl 6 and as we know levels make a big difference in this game.

    Game on.

Oh, here's the thread for this. I have Fane as a Wizard, he's got 2x fire spells and a boulder lob and I'm often hesitant to use him because he's quite... destructive. How do I go about teaching him a few spells that hurt the enemy but don't destroy everything in sight?

I do find the build engine far too complicated in this game. Would like more guidance on building your staple characters - mate, cleric, fighter etc.

Altho I guess weíve got the respec option on switch but still.

I have inevitably screwed up my builds. Finding it very hard.

Almost escaped the Fort Joy island after 20-25 hours.

You can change your build whenever you want, you know. Go to the arena in Fort Joy and look at the mirror.

If you've left Fort Joy, you can look at the mirror on the boat.

Donít you need to apply the Larian modifications? I havenít implemented those.

Yeah, but you can apply those at any time, and there's no downside to using them.

I guess you could wait until you leave Fort Joy, but there's no real need to if you're having trouble.

This is essentially why I never finished the first game. My builds were messed up and the game was just too hard.

Playing in explorer mode now and fine I feel like a bit of a noob but itís just a more chilled out experience, enjoying the dialogue and the story.

I do kind of like that it is hard though.

I might have missed a big chunk of XP somewhere but the game has a habit of presenting me with 3 alternate battles just before I level up.

One will be 4 vs 8 of the same level.
One will be 4 vs 4 and they are a level higher.
One will be 4 vs 6 and they are of a higher level but I have the high ground.

All 3 are nails hard but when I get past those it is then easy for the next 5 hours until I am just about to level up again.
