If it's not a problem for most people why do several first person games rely on teleport movement only. Why is snap turning a thing? Why not just use traditional FPS motion? Because it makes people feel physically sick.

Back to Halo to illustrate my point...the fun physics, floaty jumps and warthog/banshee bouncy sections would make it a chunder fest in VR. So you could do a spin off, more grounded, no vehicles, more corridor based with snap turn and teleport options. I'd be able to play it without feeling ill but then it wouldn't really be "halo in vr". Cause actual Halo in VR or actually Doom 2016 would be too much for most users.

Edit - for clarity, I agree a large percentage of users can play first person games in VR. But only with the use of snap turn, teleport, camera cuts etc. Snap turn or teleportation means it's a very different gameplay feeling to non vr first person.

You can't say there's no issues with movement based FPS game's in VR surely? I read so many posts about people feeling ill.
Ironically, snap turning makes me feel ill. I have to play with smooth turning. I don't even buy stuff that doesn't have normal locomotion.

Once the courses start to get a bit more complex and the AI gets faster Rush is an absolute blast. You've got to really take risks to keep up. Fantastic little game.

This felt great with some decent music on.

What are the control options with this one?

Everything you could want really. There's about 7 or 8 different control schemes. Moves with your arms outstretched is the default one but I'm not a fan. I'm using look to aim, but there's head tilt, move point, DS4 joystick, DS4 Tilt. Pretty much anything you could think of.

I'm dual wielding aim controllers for this one. The drift has dislocated both of my elbows.

Do you need two chimps for that?

Nah, the chimp I've got supports up to 4 aim controllers. I'd looked at some of the cheaper ones but once I'd factored in food and bedding and stuff if I wanted to bring a secondary chimp it made sense to future proof.

You know what I would totally want to try in VR? System Shock. That would be great.

Is there anything in the style of wireframe graphics, like old style Cyberspace or anything like that? Aside from Rez, I mean.

    Polybius. It's awesome.

Return of the Obra Dinn would be awesome in VR but no that does not answer your question.

But he clearly doesn't as you're now getting drift...

Anyway, this Rush: I'm tempted, as I did love a bit of the wingsuit stuff in Steep...

And it's essentially the wingsuit mode in Steep. Only you know you're actually there. And the fact that it forces you to scim the ground as much as possible to build speed. For the price it's a no brainer if you've liked extreme sports games in the past.

Dunno if you already mentioned, what's it like graphically?
I mean, I just bought Beat Saber and hardly played it...
And I just got Eagle Flight for a fiver and that hasn't even been started up yet...
    Did I already say FFS.

It's alright graphically. The second area I've unlocked looks a lot better than the first.

Yeah it's definitely a game you've got to force yourself to endure. I would at least try to push on to the bit where you first meet the family. It's quite an experience.

I'm on the last boss in astro bot. Can't finish it. By that i mean physically. Can't stand underwater areas in games. Or sharks

Took me a good few days to get back to the game after finding the initial save point. It's very creepy but as Decks says, it is worth persevering till you meet the family.

After that it feels more like old resi with a map and puzzles to solve which for me, alleviates the dread somewhat. I'm also going in thinking it's a comedy horror like Shaun of the dead. It's not but it's mind over matter.

    I WILL BE STRONG.

@Gibroon I found myself charging around in Resi in order to trip the scary traps etc on my own terms. Made it a lot less scary and manageable, but still loads of fun.

Yeah, I did a bit of that last night. Found a key eventually but died not long after but at least I know how to get the key now without having to go into certain areas. It is fun in an odd kind of way.

Tried changing the control scheme to smooth but found my nausea increasing compared to 30 degree snaps.

Yeah IIRC I did 30 degree snaps too. I liked that it was predictable for corridors (3 clicks = 90 degrees) and I used headset movement to do the fine-grained turning.

    @AaronTurner

I don't think putting it on easy mode will stop it being any less scary unless ememies come at you with some colourful balloons and a smiley face. Haha

Sony are now doing a VR Mega Pack with the headset, camera and 5 games (Vr Worlds, Astrobot, Doom VFR, Skyrim and Wipeout) for 230. Surely only the tightest of skinflints wouldn't jump in on that deal?

As someone who paid 290 at the beginning of the year for just the Starter Pack (which was a V1 unit as well, fuckers) the constant price drops are a bit irksome.

I feel sorry for whatever vr newbie buys that pack. I can't think of a more vomit inducing start.
