@Flying_Pig I couldn't find the Paper Beast demo on the store. I can see the full game but no demo option. I think it might be region specific for some reason. I googled it and one definitely exists! I bought Blood and truth in the current sale however. I originally tried playing the demo before I had motion controllers - that was a mistake. Doing anything was slow, cumbersome and far too frustrating. Tried it again with them and it's a totally different experience. Playing through it now and enjoying it a lot. |

Registered 17 years agoI bought Blood & Truth and Superhot VR in the end. I'll give both a go tonight.
I should check the batteries on my Move controllers, now I think about it. -

I think the Paper Beast demo is in the specific section of the PSN store that's for demos, rather than "tied" to the game's main entry. If you go to Games>Demos on the on-console store, it should be on the top row (I just checked).
If you can't find it that way, maybe you can download it to your console via the web store? -

Registered 17 years agoPistolwhip is the one that everyone was likening to a rhythm-action John wick last year, right?
How does it play? I get you dodge bullets and shoot people, but what's the rhythm-action bit about? -

Registered 6 years agoYou shoot in time to the music. The closer you are to the beat with each shot the more points you get for a kill. It's basically a mixture of Beatsaber, Superhot and Rez. -

Registered 6 years agoAs ever the videos don't really do it justice but here. It's really fucking good, you have to pull off full on matrix dodges to get out the way of the bullets.

Registered 6 years agoThe default is one controller. You can switch it to dual wield but I think it plays better with one. Plus you get to hold it like John Wick.

Registered 13 years agoHitman in VR is a bit nuts. Much as I love the recent games, I'm not sure how well it'll translate to VR. -

Registered 13 years agoIt'll be quite sweet if PSVR gets a new lease of life with the PS5. Should be some pretty good supersampling options if nothing else. -

Registered 20 years agoI guess there is plenty of time for optimisation - looked like a lot of judder when panning, from the video I saw. Maybe it was the encode, maybe the current VR build, but This may well be my gateway into VR - but more likely for PS5 if performance is going to be key in titles such as Hitman. -

Registered 6 years agoOkay how the fuck do you get good at beat saber? I breezed through all the basic levels but as soon as it got a bit faster with blocks coming so fast you can only survive if you’ve memorised it already and move before the symbols appear. That’s not really very fun

I agree in so far as I would hope for quite some retooling to get this working. The old 3rd person camera pan to 'see' more than would be possible isn't going to work here. Audio clues would need augmenting and maybe some sort of 'quick peek' or corner micro cam type tool to check around corners, under doors, etc.
A straight port- 'bolt-on' as you say, wouldn't grab me as much. -

Registered 7 years agoInteresting video on the PS5 teardown. Makes the point that the use of WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 suggests we'll be looking at a wireless PSVR2.
Around the 11 minute mark is when he talks about it.

Before I got VR I was sure this would be the most crucial thing. I now think it'll be nice to have, just about outweighing the hassle of having to charge the headset and to have a presumably quite heavy battery attached somewhere.
