My optician told me people don't blink enough while gaming. Their eyes dry out. Whenever I sit down to play - and afterwards - I use something called 'Eye Logic' which is a spray he recommended. And sold to me.

I'm going to try to rent the first round of VR games rather than buy them.

I was almost hoping it wouldn't be speccy-friendly.

All the PlayStation Access VR vids with Dave and Rob (who both wear glasses, incidentally) have fucking hyped me to bloody buggery and back.

As I understand it, and from using Cardboard, if you're long-sighted (Hypermetropia) you'll need to wear your glasses. If you're short-sighted (Myopic), within certain bounds, you should be fine without them.

I'm badly short-sighted in one eye, somewhat short-sighted in the other but I'm fine in Cardboard.

Yeah, I've got monged peepers (not Marty Feldman/Mr. Magoo levels), and I'd really like to test out PSVR before taking the plunge in case I'm a bit "special."

I've got a chance to try VR, either Vive or Oculus, before PSVR launches. I've ordered PSVR, but my concern is that I'd be comparing the higher end headset to the Sony one and it'll come off worse and I'll think 'I spent 350 on this?'

On the other side, trying VR might be a chance to see if it I can handle it at all.

    Any thoughts?

Way I see it, if you're on the fence, it's worth keeping your preorder and if it isn't for you, looks like you'll be able to sell it for a little bit of profit. Certainly won't lose any money.

@1Dgaf all of these first gen headsets are compromised in some way, even the expensive ones, and the the things that might be better wouldn't be apparent to you unless you spent a few
    weeks with the headset.

All I'd say is, if you're concerned about an unfavourable comparison with your eventual PSVR purchase, is this: don't try Vive room scale. It's the one thing PSVR isn't built to do and some feel it's the "one true VR". I don't. I'm happy with seated and standing play with a joypad as well as room scale but YMMV.

As others have said it's unlikely you'll make a loss even if you decide you don't like PSVR.

I'm very interested in VR for racing games but PSVR is out due to non-Fanatec compatibility with PS4 and on PC it's just too expensive at the mo. Assetto Corsa in VR is my goal :)

Have they mentioned if PSVR will be compatible with future gens e.g. PS5? Would make sense if more power improves the experience.

No one is going to talk about the PS5, in any capacity, for a while.

Not interested in talking about PS5 as such, just want to know about future compatibility. Wheels last gen to this gen was a mess.

Greg Miller has received his PSVR (along with the rest of the press) but he confirmed yesterday that there's an embargo on when they can talk about the headset and the games. Didn't say when the embargo is up though 😒

Sony have been exposed by pocket-lint today, and people should be warned about it.

Apparently you will need a PS4 to play, as well as a PS4 controller. So even if you have a ps4 but no controller you'd better get one. The real scandal is neither of these come with the PSVR. They also mention the camera, but I think we all knew about that.
Unbelievable, I'm cancelling my currently non existent pre order

Seriously though, like juz I've been watching the ps access videos and while I was happy to wait before, I'm not sure if I can resist ordering one now. I've seen enough to make me think that even at launch there are going to be a lot of experiences that I'd very much enjoy. If it was just the price of headset to consider then I'd order without hesitation, but it's the price of the camera plus another move controller on top of that which has me holding back still.

I know that despite me pretending to myself that I'm going to be sensible about it and wait for a deal or something, that I'm going to crack very soon and order one.

I've preordered the pack with the camera. I think I'll just get the moves on eBay.

Still haven't actually cancelled. Finding it hard to press the button. Hope some reviews come in time for me to decide.

Yeah. I never fell for the camera/move bs after getting burned with Kinect. It just seems awfully mean that they're not included. Maybe I'm being a pussy though. Is the camera essential for the VR? I know that the Moves aren't.

Pretty lame it's not included then.
  • Deleted user 1 October 2016 13:45:50
Yeah, agreed. There should at least be two kits available in that case.

But...with THREE versions of actual PS4's on the shelf soon, guess they're trying to avoid even more grandmother confusion.

Loads of PS4 owners already have the camera. Like about 15% I think I read. Those millions of people will not want to pay for a second one, hence two SKUs, one with, one without.

Oh, there ARE two versions, then?

    I genuinely didn't know that.
