Registered 9 years agoI am thinking about getting a psvr. What is the cinematic mode like for playing normal games? I play a lot of racing games and am interested how immersive they are on a large screen in front of you. -

Registered 14 years agoYou're won't use cinematic mode other than for novelty value. The big decrease in image quality and the inherent discomfort of having a tethered bulky headset on outweighs the (albeit huge) screen size.
Edit - you're better off pulling your sofa closer to your TV.

Registered 9 years ago@richardiox Cheers. Will probably wait and save my money then as I was looking to get more out of it apart from the vr stuff. I’m sure the wipeout omega update will get me tempted again! -

Registered 7 years ago@nowthenfella I use it for the cinematic racers that don't have VR, as I like using the wheel for F1 games. Dirt Rally has the best VR content out of all of them though. -

Registered 8 years agoRe the cinematic view, yes it's a drop in quality, but if you're not playing a blu ray uhd or whatever, and like watching older films, it's a fucking winner.
Try the devil rides out by hammer. It's fucking stupendous. -

Registered 9 years ago@Reacher Is the resolution loss really bad or managable if you don’t mind me asking? I play F1 2017, Dirt 4, Project Cars 2 and Dirt Rally on a normal ps4 -

Registered 16 years agoPerhaps I overlooked one, but I think there are no VR or PSVR games in EG's top 50, so far, right? EG/my gaming interests have been pretty far apart this year.

Registered 4 months agoPSVR blurry and image like being under water?
I'm not expecting HD graphics but I'm sure all the rave reviews for the PSVR must mean that I either have a dodgy headset or I'm going blind.
Playing the London Heist for example. Pub scene and desk scene, both feel like they're under water. Lines are not clear, everything has a smudged kind of look, and even text is unreadable. The mobile phone I'm given along with the ID card, I can't make out any of the text other than the text message that comes through in large type. When shooting, it kind of just feels like pot luck. Is this normal? Am I expecting too much from the VR?
In until dawn, the menu drop boards (continue, save game, load game) etc are SUPER blurry. Like the text is dancing around, not focused at all.
Anyone else or just me?
Thank you! -

Registered 10 years agoTry shifting the headset physically up and down on your face, in small increments, while looking at some text. There should be a sweet spot where it all becomes clear. When I say clear I mean very pixelated, but you should be able to find a position where you can see the pixels relatively clearly. (In the centre of your view at least.) -

Registered 4 months ago@monkman76 I've tried that and there's definitely a position where the vision is best, but still not up to a standard I think I could play with. The PS4 homescreen text etc isn't so much a problem as the in-game -

Registered 10 years agoThat sounds odd, the in-game text should look pretty much the same as on the console dashboard. That said though, you're less than an inch from a 1080p screen so it's never going to look like a modern TV game. -

Registered 7 years ago@nowthenfella Dirt Rally is really worth playing on VR anyway. You tend nto to notice the resolution loss, especially in the F1. -

Registered 9 years agoThanks for the replies. I actually tried a psvr in game today. Had to pay £2 for the privilege but since I was desperate to try it I ponied up. Only tried driveclub demo so initial thoughts....
The graphics aren’t as clear but the game felt much nicer to play with the immersion and the 60fps. They had it set up on a pro and I just have a normal ps4
The headset itself felt really comfortable and light years ahead of the gear vr that I have
So very close to buying one now. Will have a think -

Registered 10 years agoDriveclub VR looks identical on Pro and base PS4 as it never got a Pro patch.
Also, if you were satisfied with Driveclub's graphics you're onto a winner - it's just about the worst-looking PSVR game out there.

In fact, recommendations for any of the PSVR games in the sale are welcome.

Registered 16 years agoJust spent another few hours with Ultrawings. I really really really recommend it if you have Moves and the subject matter sounds interesting to you. It is absolutely joyous to fly, plenty of depth and challenge. -

Registered 8 years agoThe Moves are starting to annoy me a bit, they seem to constantly lose rotational bearing and can end up registering as 90 degrees from where I'm actually pointing. a waggle fixes them up which is ok for Skyrim but for Superhot firing in a complete different direction to where I'm aiming can be fatal. Come to think of it, I had the same problem with the Dualshock while playing Robot Rescue.
Anyone had similar issues and got any tips for correcting it? -

Would love Lone Echo shame its exclusive to the Rift.
