Huge recommendation for Farpoint if you're considering it. The Aim controller is amazing.

The later sections are great too. It really changes quite significantly and forces you to change up your playstyle, as well as giving you some really interesting new toys. Then when you play sections in the Challenge mode, it mixes all the stuff from early game in with the stuff from late game so it can really throw a lot at you.

The unlockable weapons are a nice touch they added post-release, but they do require a fair bit of grinding that feels a bit slower than it needs to be. I really want the tier 3 Shotgun but it's taking me about 3 maps worth of killing to go up a level, and I've still 4 levels away. I don't mind all that much as I still love the game, but it'd be nice if the shiny new things got given out more regularly.

I just got it a couple of days ago for £50 if that's any better. I'm genuinely amazed how well done it is. Proper wow moment when you first load the game up.

Has anyone tried Doom with it? Is it as well implemented as Farpoint?

From some reading on it, no; I get the impression they came up with a few control layouts, but they're all some sort of compromise.

I tried using the Moves for Doom and ditched them pretty quickly for a normal pad, so I imagine the Aim controller will be similar.

The aim has 2 analog sticks and all the buttons so I imagine it'll be better than the moves.

I've got Farpoint but to my shame I've not tried it yet.. God of War is taking up all my gaming time!

Still got Moss and Polybius to play too.

I thought the main problem was in game you have one gun hand and one grenade hand, even though you'd be holding the aim controller with both IRL. Seems very off-putting for something that was supposedly built for (PS)VR.

Yeah I've just watched some of the EG playthrough of it with an aim and it looks off putting. Real shame as if it was implemented as well as Farpoint it would have been something special.

Does the VR stuff ever come up in the sales? I've got hold of some moves and really want to give Batman a go but fuck paying £16 for a 20 minute game.

Pretty much constantly. Since I got mine a year or so ago, there has literally never been a game I've fancied that hasn't been on sale at least once. They're always cycling them in and out of sale, including Batman VR several times.

So I downloaded a bunch of the demos and tried a few out. Eve Valkyrie seemed cool but that demo is about 30 seconds long. Headmaster looks fun. Starchild seemed rubbish. Moss was very charming. I have a wheel on the Xbox that I use a lot so I didn't think I'd be bothered about Driveclub (although I do love the original), but it was really fun. Tiny Trax was a fun novelty but I don't think I'd buy it.

I did also try Raw Data as well of course, I see the issue that the tracking isn't 100%, but I didn't find it too bad. Couldn't spot any issue with the enemies as that all seemed fine. On the basis of the demo I'd happily pick it up. Knowing that it regularly drops to sub-£15 in sales though makes me think I might wait on that and just pull the trigger on Farpoint with the Aim for £50.

For now I'll do a bit more on the games I already have though, I'm hitting score attack on Rez, and I hadn't touched Wipeout HD so I'm using that as my VR career :)

I'm kind of thinking about picking pro up. Has anyone had any experience of the 2? Is there much of a difference? None of the comparison videos show a huge difference but obviously videos don't really show what you're seeing in the helmet.

@HarryPalmer I played through that on a friends' Vive at the weekend, it was hilarious. I stood there with the tree yelling at me for way too long before I realised I should be doing something :D

I upgraded to a Pro just before Christmas and the difference is certainly noticeable, although I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say that it's an essential upgrade.

I haven't yet tried all of the games I played through on the base PS4 (such as Farpoint), but I certainly noticed an improvement in the VR Worlds shark encounter (things looked much crisper generally and in particular in the distance). The Last Guardian VR demo looked incredible (but I haven't tried that on a base PS4 for comparison) and I also thought Dick Wilde looked very sharp indeed (again, not tried it on a base PS4 but it seemed to me much crisper than anything I'd played on PSVR using the base PS4).

Just got round to trying the Battlezone demo, I wasn't expecting it to be as impressive as it was. Is there much to the full game?

    @Decks

Definitely sharper image on most games and as you can imagine the difference is more pronounced in a VR environment than the other Pro upgrade of 1080p>4K (1800p)

If you've got a 4K TV as well I'd say pull the trigger and upgrade. Sell your ps4 towards the cost!

Like with most tech, you'll be paying significantly more to play the exact same software and have the exact same experience but.. Very slightly better. Deffo upgrade man.

I know I keep going on about it but I really am blown away by Farpoint. Popping off headshots with the precision rifle is what dreams are made of.

I switch between my pro and standard all the time, my pro is in my office and standard in my conservatory. I donít notice a massive difference when playing VR games, certainly not worth the £350 investment.

I know myself well enough to know I'm fighting a losing battle with myself at this point.

Thumper is like a fucking descent into hell. Wish it didn't get so difficult later on.
