I had my first proper VR session in ages yesterday. I bought it about a year ago, but never really had the chance to play it. I think I got put off trying to play in hot weather. |
Now that the weather is shitty again, it's just amazing. Astrobot is utterly phenomenal. Superhot is excellent, and I'm annoyed that they haven't made a Matrix one that I could be playing right now. Headmaster is good fun. Ultrawings is ace, although I could have done with a bit more of a sensation of speed. I did not get Statik at all. I think I'll have to look up what I'm supposed to be doing to get started, or get a bit smarter.
Wipeout, Moss, Dirt and countless others are ready to go, but I really want games where I can play cricket and be an ice hockey goalie.
All in all, what a time to be a gamer. My dog thought I was mental, though.

Shouldn't you be in blighttown?
You ain't even played the must plays yet (WipeOut and Rez)...
Also, if you like shooting people in the face and late night bants, Firewall.
Also, yes, it's a fucking pain trying to use this shit in any sort of hot weather.

@quadfather Ha! I needed a break!
@AboutHalfaStevas I've played Rez already, but I'm looking forward to Wipeout. I am tempted by Firewall, but am wary of having more plastic tat.
So i've finally caved and bought this with the move controllers. Any must haves?
There's plenty of demos and stuff to keep you busy for a while. Then depending on what kind of stuff you like, Astrobot, RE7, Wipeout, Rez, Farpoint, The Percistence, Firewall, Skyrim and Dirt Rally are probably the big ones. Loads of other good smaller scale stuff as well.
Superhot. Always Superhot. And Dirt Rally of course, but thatís more niche. Oh you mentioned Dirt.

Oh yeh I always wanted to try superhot. Looking forward to it! Been wanting to try it for along time and I thought sod it. Trying Argos same day delivery, should be arriving tonight, so lets see how that pans out.

There's loads of smaller stuff that's great, too. Headmaster, Blasters of the universe, Thumper, are some that jump out for me.
Do not buy Konrad the fucking kitten.
Or Drunkn bar fight.
Also, if you're a plus member, check back, you already have a few for free.
Wait for sales. They're always on sale. Psprices is your friend.
@AboutHalfaStevas Thanks for the website, its very handy!
I didn't realise how much vr stuff was around. Some look like right rubbish. I don't think i'll go for anything scary though, i'm a wuss at the best of times!
quadfather wrote:Here you go wavey. Probably needs updating a bit as had to trawl through a few pages back
Reet, here goes, assuming you're getting moves -
Wipehout Omega Collection
Until Dawn: Rush of blood
Playroom VR (Or whichever one has the london heist)
I have to mention Star Trek: Bridge Crew, or I get shouted at by Dfawkes
Farpoint (Needs aim controller)
Arizona Sunshine (needs aim controller)
Note - these are the ones I've enjoyed - not necessarily essentials for everyone
Add astrobot for starters
@quadfather Thank you will have a good look through
It's a good time to jump in. There's loads of chaff of course, but there's a solid library of good, proper games now.
Definitely start with the cage dive in the VR Worlds thing you get with it.
Can I just say at this point, nearly everyone complaining online about the aim drift in Firewall held up Farpoint as some shining example of how to eradicate it (through software), and, for me, that was complete and utter bollocks. Farpoint was way, way worse.
I've come round to thinking it's all just shaky tech which relies on you either getting lucky or rearranging your space such that you get it all in a very tight sweet spot.
Also, fuck Bluetooth, man. My farts interfere with it.
Edited by AboutHalfaStevas at 15:20:50 02-11-2018
Very Tight Sweet Spot is also worth a look, but you need a Japanese PSN account.
I honestly never had a single issue with it in Farpoint. I just think it's your gonorrhea.
Wouldn't surprise me if that causes Bluetooth interference also, tbh.
Zone of the Enders is down to 12 quid. Did anyone buy it? I thought the second demo was pretty good.
Ain't even got around to trying the demo, to be honest. It'll probably be free on ps+ by the time I do.

@quadfather I bought pretty much everything on that list (except for the aim stuff) and have barely scratched the surface of half of it.
Need to get back to my VR but Red Dead and Destiny 2 are eating all of my gaming time.

I just spotted psvr demo collection 2 in the free section under demos. I can see it on my account but for some reason not on my son's account. Might be because he is under family account, a bit strange.
Anyway, quite a few games to try there.
Jesus, I just tried tetris effect whilst the collections download. I am absolutely memorised. Its really quite something. I'm actually a bit blown away by it.
Really? Did you get a long red one?
It's his first VR experience to be fair. Wait until you try some of the other shit.
@arty Still going. Must be good if the lipstick is popping out.
Sorry for enjoying something!
Get Batman, must be cheap now,?
No I'm glad you like it, I might try the demo myself now.
Bought superhot vr and its the only game so far that my move controllers don't feel great. Kinda scary too when you get shot and it rings in your headphones. Having fun though. Dunno if its £200 fun yet but i'll give it a good go tomorrow.
