| I'm not sure the story / characters matter to much. As long as it at some point features giant robot dinosaurs fighting giant monsters it will be worth a watch. |

They are trying to market it with a bit of edge but the directors comments make me think the trailers are at odds with what we'll see on screen.
"It’s going to be a fun, joyful movie, but one that feels completely grounded in a real world, with real characters going through real things"
I loved Power Rangers as a kid but... ya know... thats what this is all about. And when you compare what this looks like to what young fans got with "Power Rangers: The Movie"... -

Registered 10 years agoI was a bit too old when it first came out, but that trailer looked interesting to me. I'll catch this at some point. -

Registered 9 years agoI remember living close to Sydney as a kid, and being massively excited that the Power Rangers were filming in a quarry close to my hometown.
I feel kind of dirty now. -

Registered 17 years agoYes, I thought Kong was a bit much actually, my 8 year old enjoyed it but thought it was pretty disgusting in parts. -

12a generally still recommends no lower than 8 years old. Given recent releases that have had 12a I'd start to assume 10 is a better lower range unless you've seen it and can make that call.

I think the last section of the film is kid friendly.
Complete with "Go! Go! Power Rangers" theme song.
Its the earlier stuff which isnt so kid friendly and... surprisingly good! I really enjoyed the build up and chemistry between the leads.
But when they morph... whilst you get what you pay for... it feels like two films awkwardly smashed together. Both good at what they do... but not at the same time.
Without doubt the best "Power Rangers" thing ever, mind you. -

Registered 9 years agoJust took my 11 year old to see it. It was... Ok. Fairly faithful to the originals, but the build up is definitely not ok for an 8 year old imo. Just as a heads up for @nickthegun . There are some conversations I'd rather not have at 8 that would be triggered by the film I think. Including the first five minutes tbh. -
Only $138m WW so chances of a follow up not looking good right now
