Doesn't seem to be getting much international coverage yet (nothing on the BBC for example), but 12,000 people have been protesting in South Korea about the current South Korean president Park Geun-hye.

It turns out that all her speeches are written by a close friend (Choi Soon-sil), who also happens to be the daughter of a religious cult leader. This friend also controlled what clothes the president would wear and, more worryingly, had access to all kinds of classified information.

Lots more conspirary theories floating about (especially on Reddit), as it seems Choi has made quite a lot of money due to her relationship with the president, and there are concerns she may have directly influenced state policies.

    Blooomberg article

Speaking to older students when I was still living here back in 2013 I recall she wasn't too popular with that generation then and the obvious ties with her father didn't help.
