I've held off buying a PS4 up until now, as I simply don't have as much time for gaming as I used to. However, with the release of The Last Guardian imminent, I'm going to treat myself.

Just wondered what the panel thought were the must have PS4 titles, as it would be good to pick a few games up.

I'm crap at FPS's but played the original Halo - didn't finish Halo2, haven't played any of the later ones
Don't mind a bit of racing. The early Gran Turismo's were fun, Wipeout 2097 might be old but remains probably my favourite racer and Burnout 3 : Takedown was hilarious
Love me a bit of RPG / Adventuring - Metal Gear Solid, Broken Sword, KOTOR, Fable, Tomb Raider etc
Don't mind some oddness - Journey, Catherine

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Do you have an Xbox One or an up-to-date PC? If so you'll presumably want exclusives, if not, well, there's a lot...

No Xbox One, but I might get one if I get any Christmas money, just for completeness. Don't have a PC - I play a bit of WoW on the Mac, but for me, gaming = big telly / sofa / controller.

    Bloodborne

    Until Dawn

Oh, The Order if you see it cheap, which it will be by now. It's a fricking beautiful game.

It'll be a while since you've had access to more modern GWAFFIX then, so here are a few suggestions to get you on your way:

Driveclub. Looks the mutts nutts. Arcade racing fun. You can get it, with a shedload of DLC, for peanuts.

Tomb Raider. The reboot. It'll scratch your action/adventure itch, and again can be had for peanuts right about now. Alternatives might be the Nathan Drake collection or Uncharted 4 if you wanna spend a bit more.

The Witness. If you fancy using your brain. It's better than it looks. Waaaay better.

Destiny. After a couple of years worth of expansions there's enough single player content in there, even if you never touch the multiplayer aspect. I think some co-op play options are available even if don't have a PS+ subscription. It's by the Halo people. It'll scratch that itch. Best. Shooting. Ever.

If you're into RPG and adventuring then really Witcher 3 is the one to get, and the graphics and scale will blow your last gen little mind.

Bloodborne is the only "must by" on my list. That game is pure nightmare fuel with frantic combat and fugly Lovecraftian monsters.

    I love it.

Resogun - Arcade perfection. Similar to defender, but it is it's own thing. Save the Last Humans! I must have put over 300 hours into this i reckon.

Bloodborne . A really special game. It depends if you like the dark souls series really. Sharp, aggressive, and really well materialised game world. Special game.

If you haven't had the chance to play Fez before , try that out.

Transistor - made by the guys who made Bastion, it is similar in that it is RPG playground, it encourages experimentation in the weapons and attacks you use, all set in a nice midgar esq setting.

Driveclub. A good arcade racer, that as grown over the years to become a sort of must have really. The single player is quite addictive, claiming the different objectives on each event is pretty compulsive.

The Witness- A pretty rewarding puzzle games, complete puzzles, other areas and gates open up, all with a lost style island to sink your mind into. Quite tough though, but it is unique and worth playing.

Steam world Dig. A miner metroidvania, that is ridiculously fun.

There are quite a few decent games too, that range from good to pretty good, but it is a console that feels like it is more of the same.
Metal Gear is a great game, a wonderful playground for the metal gear universe to exist in, it just kind of falls apart after the first chapter (don't take that straight away, the first chapter lasts 30 missions haha, and there are only two chapters).

Uncharted 4 as a wonderfully realised story, and perhaps the best relationship i have seen portrayed in a game, but it is.. well uncharted, and the same could be said of Ratchett and Clank, looks great, but more of the same. Tomb Raider is decent.. but more of the same.. You kind of get the point. But they are all solid games that are worth a punt. Especially now they are cheaper.

I will also third, or fourth, the suggestion of Drive Club. Despite its initial launch problems, it really is a great game. Look out for deals online for it. I have seen it and all the paid for DLC, there is a shed load of free DLC as well, for under 16 regularly.

Resogun is another great call. It is a very addictive shooter that will have you wondering where the hours went. The same goes for Rocket League.

Unfortunately, for the PS4 that is all I have played that I would describe as must have. If you haven't played the originals then Tearaway, The Last of Us and Rise of the Tomb Raider are all good solid games. I'll be playing the second Tomb Raider game next. If it is as good as the first then I'd recommend that as well.

    This.

And MGS5, GTA5 and Doom, for starters. Ignore stuff like The Order, that's just people thinking you're after PlayStation exclusives.

Bloodborne is just an essential purchase. For me it's easily the best game on the PS4. Probably my favourite game this gen.

A 2TB HD and a long USB cable (you can drain a pad in 1 session).
Diablo 3 is supposed to be super fun couch co-op, in a way the PC game isn't

Take no notice of user FuzzyDucky.
He gives up gaming at least twice a week.

Until Dawn is definitely worth anyone's time. Also: The Witcher 3, Driveclub, The Order, No Man's Sky, and Final Fantasy XIV if you have an MMO itch to be scratched.
