| Hi all, my wife's bought me a PS4 for xmas and I've picked up destiny collector edition in the sales ready for xmas day, I used to have it when it first came out one my Xbox one but I got rid of that earlier this year. I've read that a lots change with all the dlc and that it's worth playing, is that right? Is it too much of a ball ache to play from day one now? Cheers |

But to answer.... yes. Just make sure you get the bunch of EG PS4 destiny players to raid with you through the earlier raids.
You can miss some real good shit if you don't. -
Destiny story is not really hard or a slog... -

It will be really hard and a right slog if you have nobody to help you -

Registered 12 years agoIt's a great game. I wish I'd have jumped in at this point rather than launch as it actually has a decent amount of meaningful content at this point, rather than the drip-fed morsels we were given if you kept up to date.
The only problem is that the community seems to have nosedived in quality quite dramatically since I last played. I've recently got back into it after about a year away and the amount of dogshit team mates I'm partnered with in Strikes is quite staggering. -

You mean you were terrible at it, so you went back to CoD?
It terrible shite.
Either play a proper MMO or a decent shooter.
I enjoyed Destiny and to answer your question OP yea it's worth it! The story isn't a slog solo, just make sure you group up and get yourself through the Raids! As others have said there's an EG thread for it, or just head to the group finding thread on Destiny's own Forums

Registered 20 years agoBe careful about doing the Raids with really high level players.
I did it once (Vault of Glass) and the game adjusts the toughness of the enemy based on average level I think - I could hardly damage any of the enemies and basically felt like a spare part most of the time...
I loved Destiny on 360 and PS4 but the times I've gone back to it I've felt like I've dropped too far behind the curve. -

Registered 14 years agoVery much doubt that Alastair. VoG was punishingly difficult at the time and required very good understanding of mechanics to complete. Without that knowledge it is still very hard even with a huge level advantage.
To be honest the level advantage only really allows you to melt the bosses the regular enemies are still very capable of killing you due to shear numbers.
Seeing Atheon die within 5 seconds of the damage phase starting shows how there is no rebalancing of levels. -

Registered 20 years agoHmm, well I definitely wasn't doing damage to enemies through parts of it. And I'm sure I was hitting them.
I've never liked that bloody jumping section!! -

If you were much lower than the recommended level you would not hurt then and they would have red bars over their heads. (This changes to orange if you can hurt them but only a little). -

Registered 16 years agoI play Destiny super casually, and I love popping on and off. I mostly just do Patrols, so I can start or stop wherever I like, and I still get a lot of fun out of it. The loot drops are frequent enough that even a quick half hour will yield something of some use. I know for a lot of people the Raid and Strike co-op missions are where the fun is, but for me it's the freedom of just messing around in the Patrol maps of the various locations.
I got into it fairly late too, and thankfully it was fairly easy to play. I never felt that I had to invest a lot of time to have fun. The daily missions and Gunsmith mean you can always have a go of some new toys, if that's what you want, so you're always working towards something nice. Sure, you can play it for hours if you want, but I love that you can get a lot out of it as a casual player too

The others were all at max level and quite regular VoGers. -
It was a couple of years ago, so I can't remember all the details.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked Destiny. But I don't have the time to play it and everything else.
