    Mega Man looks so wrong.

But anything with Captain Marvel is cool so who knows.

Why does he? It's Megaman X. I'm just glad it's not fucking Zero honestly.

I still have nightmares of lightning loops.

Maybe I just haven't been exposed to much outside of classic Mega Man (and art derivative of that) and the cell-shaded MMX.

Something about "budget Pixar" 3D rendered Mega Man seemed just so wrong. Possibly in part because all the proportions looked wrong vs my mental image of classic Mega Man.

Well if it's any consolation, and going by the last few games cast, he'll be one of dozens available.

But it is definitely Mega Man X, you goof. You need to update your mental image for sure, even classic Mega Man was a weird blue metal gimp suit looking lad.

More info from the PS Blog @ http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/12/03/marvel-vs-capcom-infinite-hits-ps4-in-2017-2v2-battles-infinity-stones-more/

    Features
Reborn Rivalries: Universes collide once again in this all-new crossover clash for the ages, where players select their favorite Marvel and Capcom characters and engage in accessible and action-packed 2v2 partner battles.
Infinite Power: Pulled from classic Marvel lore, unique and game-changing Infinity Stones can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle. Each Infinity Stone provides a unique advantage to the player and represents a different aspect of the universe: power, space, time, reality, soul, and mind.
Iconic Heroes: Choose from a diverse roster of fan favorite characters pulled from Marvel and Capcom universes, including Iron Man and Captain Marvel from the Marvel side, and Ryu and Mega Man X from Capcom. Many more playable characters will be revealed in the future.
Cinematic Story: Heroes and villains battle for supremacy in a timeless struggle set in the Marvel and Capcom universes. The original storyline answers the questions regarding the new clash and lets players step into the shoes of classic characters from both sides as they wage war against powerful forces in an attempt to defeat a new villain.
Accessible Single Player Content: In addition to the cinematic story experience, players can hone their skills in a variety of accessible single player modes, including Training, Mission and Arcade modes.
Vast Multiplayer Features: Robust online modes and content including ranked and casual matches, global leaderboards, and online lobbies with spectator mode deepen the overall experience.
Graphics: Unreal Engine 4 technology pushes the cinematic visuals and next-gen realism into a new era.
So it's definitely 2 v 2, going back to MvC1. That's not a bad thing. Using Unreal Engine 4 as well, which could be good! Plus a full Single Player content package, learning from their mistake with SFV. Nice.

BUT FUCKING INFINITY STONES? WHAT IS THIS SHIT, SFxT?!

HYPE IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE HYPE.

I mean hopefully it wont be too bad and gamebreaking like SFxT was, but that's a bit fucking annoying.

Yeah, I'm not sure about Infinity Stones going by that description. But I'd like to think Capcom know what they are doing, as they will be fully aware how the Gem System in SFxT was received (ie, not well!).

I'm super down for 2v2. I've always preferred that over 3v3.

Hoping for Black Panther and Spider-Gwen announcements. And Gene :)

Supposedly it's taking from the MCU, so you wouldn't get Spider-Gwen. No X-Men or Fantastic Four characters either. Potentially will have the Inhumans to replace them though.

It's pretty much what they're doing throughout their comic lines too.

Didn't one of the eaier Capcom Marvel games have infinity stones as in-stage pickup or am I badly misremembering this? Never really played too many of the Marvel games in detail, I think MvC1 and 2 were my most played. I remember finding UMVC3 disappointing on PS3 though, admittedly after only a quick look though...

This is Capcom after all. I was hyped for street fighter V and looked how they screwed the launch of that up
  • Deleted user 3 December 2016 22:05:52
Is this why sfv was half baked toss then? Everyone was making this?

Not the biggest fan of MVC3 but I'll no doubt give this a bash so fingers crossed.

Not on launch though. Nice try Capcom but never again.

Spider-man is now technically part of the MCU, so I'd presume the characters associated with him in the comics would be fair game, although we don't know the details of the partnership between Sony and Marvel or even if Spider-man himself can appear here. And given how few female MCU representatives there are for them to pick from it's a safe bet that they might pick a few characters who haven't appeared on the big screen.

Not that Spider-Gwen is even remotely a safe bet, but I can hope even if I'm stretching :)

That basically open up huge amounts of comic characters all over the place. If it's MCU based, it's the characters in the films and shows, including the upcoming announced ones. There're still a lot of options there.
  • Deleted user 4 December 2016 20:21:35
It will be full of aggressive dlc, won't be finished on launch (hello MVC3, SSF4, USF4, SFV) and will have awful shit servers that you can't get a game on because Capcom will have the intern working on it.

I played SFV today for the first time in probably 3 months and was sat staring at the menu for 5 minutes between games. It's turd.

It's been out ages and they can't sort something as simple as matchmaking.

I'll get this in 2018 in a steam sale when it's been patched 16 times in 6 months.

It looks kinda like TvC crossed with SFxC. Two chars, no assists, tag in combos and... ahem... gems.

Which, honestly, I'm fine with. I tried so many times to pick MvC 2 and 3 up but I just could never get my head around all the OTG assist combos and all that caper so anything that (hopefully) simplifies it is more than welcome as SFxT was and probably is my limit of complication.

And, yeah, I tried to get back into SF5 not long after urien dropped. He is great, by far the most enjoyable character I played, but the ryu army is still out in for, anti-air jabbing and j.lking for fortune and glory, so I kinda gave up.

Still, word is ryu has been hit pretty hard with the nerf bat, so it may get a roll out next season.

So reading some interviews and bits over the weekend, the Gem thing isn't something to worry about.

It's basically a replacement for X-Factor, which has seen the chop, but you can decide what benefit you get. Power for more damage, Time for faster movement, etc - unlike before, where X-Factor gave you those things in varying degrees of extremes depending on how little were left in your team.

Also looks like the fighting itself is more reminiscent of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 with the quick-tag combo extensions. That I like, and looks like it'll lend itself better. Means there'll be less crazy screen filling shit going on too, and a bit more to do with the fundamentals of fighting.

Did anyone play Tatsunoko vs Capcom then? This seems to use the exact same animations for Ryu. It reviewed well but it's the only one of the vs series I never played, looks much slower and more deliberate than the madness that was UMvC3. I like it, even though Captain America is now probably the most popular MCU character but still has the exact same moves as in UMvC3 where he was shit.

The gem thing worked well I think in Marvel Super Heroes on PS1, so not too worried about that. Got sick of Wolverine's 'BERSERKER BARRAGE' so not unhappy to see the back of him if no X-Men.

TvC used the same animations as MvC3 which preceeded it.

And you shut your filthy whore mouth, the Cap was great in UMvC3! Fite me m8.

Looks quite good. Think I'm too old for fighters now though.
  • Deleted user 5 December 2016 12:53:34
@Rivuzu well with Doom, Magneto, Storm, Wolverine and Phoenix all non-MCU and probably out, he might actually stand a chance of being top tier this time. :)

That's why the MCU rumour is super vague. We don't really know what it precisely means.

Does it mean only characters already seen in and announced as future MCU appearances? Does it encompass all those who Marvel own the rights to show on screen? What about those that Marvel consider behind closed doors as part of the cinematic universe, but which haven't been announced yet, and who they may want to appear as a foresighted push ready for when they are announced? Right now all we know are the characters who definitely can't appear if the MCU focus is true (Doom, X-Men, F4, etc)

I've always presumed it to mean the characters they own the rights to and may appear in future. If one of them fits into Infinite's cast really well and Capcom push for them like they have for some of the more obscure ones in previous MvC games... who knows.
