To be fair it does say play the main game first - although it's been so self-contained I don't feel like I'm missing anything narratively - it just felt like a real change of pace and roadblock. The previous human encounters had kept the stealth survival feel alive and all of a sudden there's like a dozen dudes coming at you from all angles.

As Derbs said, you don't get bum rushed that often in the main game. But the combat is the same.

You can choose stealth in most encounters, if that's your thing.

It's definitely worth playing still. Might still be on sale on psn too.

Left Behind takes place smack-bang in the middle of the main game, and the flashbacks fill out some of the stuff that Ellie reminisces to Joel. It is largely self-contained, it's just designed to fill a bit of detail space and obviously you've been introduced to all the mechanics and structures at an easier pace already.

I'd say that if you like everything but that final fight, which is the culmination of the experience in the DLC so is obviously a bit more challenging, you'll get along with the main game.

The current psn sale is just about the first in awhile that it's not been in. Will keep my eyes open.

It wasn't so much the difficulty spike (although I did die a couple of times) so much as the stylistic shift into being something I burnt out on ages ago. Reassuring to read it's the exception not the rule for main game encounters.

I sort of dug playing the DLC out of context. It was like reading a really neat short story or something. All the world building contextual and the core narrative being a snapshot of a human story away from the hugeness of whatever catastrophe has destroyed the world.

The Road comparisons make even more sense now.

Probably because they've just announced their budget line, launching in July, and it's one of those titles.

Just played Left Behind after getting it for £2.50 in the sale. So good man, especially for that price. I played the original when it first came out but never got round to this.

Definitely feeling excited for the sequel now.

Nothing too exciting but there is a Ellie theme that is only free for 24 hours on PSN now. 2.99 after 16:00 tomorrow. It's okay. She's like 3d and pops out in front of the tiles.

Iíd be completely fine with this being a launch title for PS5, I canít see it though, too many potential sales lost . Itíll be a Breath of the Wild style dual release at best.

Me too, and just imagine how good it would be on a superior console. Would unquestionably sell me a day one PS5, and probably a new TV to go with it!

Yeah, It'll still come to PS4, it has to. But the PS5 version will be the way to go for 60fps and extra fidelity.

I have to begrudgingly agree ;) I'm "supposed" to be moving to one console only next gen, after several interactions of two or more of them!

Well, seeing as no one else has bumped this.
Looking incredible as expected, although Iím feeling itís graphically maybe not as good as it looked at the previous e3 footage from a few years ago. It feels like something is a little off with the face of Ellie or is that just me?

Naughty dog arenít known for downgrading of course, usually the opposite. Maybe I just need to watch a 4K version. (Watched in 4K now and yeah itís looking just fine)

Anyway, looks like theyíve found an strong emotional hook for this which looks like itís going to be another heavy hitter.

Naughty dog are the masters of this stuff, canít wait.

Trailer didnt directly give a spoiler but it hinted at a large motive behind the plot which I wish they had avoided.

True but it needed to give us something, we still donít know the full situation but we can guess at a fair bit of horrible stuff from the looks of it which I agree is arguably a bit too much.
Still, knowing naughty dog we will be right in the feels with the characters.
