Yeah I think handling is the most important stat for standard races. You need to be able to react to everything going tits up and not have it throw you into a wall-to-wall zig zag for a time.

Oh I can remember that feeling ever so well. A+ is a joke. A cruel autopilot hoarding joke. The one really annoying thing is the AI ships constantly air-shifting you into barriers and the like.

RE:Sol, I just went for the middle boost pad every time. It's slightly higher than the other two, you just need to make sure you hit it perfectly straight... and lift your nose up.

I love the wipeout games, but I suck very bad at them.
You really have to Play very dedicated to achieve greatness within them.

@FuzzyDucky the last events I did were the remaining 7 Zone races I hadn't done.

The countless A+ races trained me on those awful racing lines for Mach 1 and above. Seriously, zone 70 on Altima was awful.

I booted this up for an hour last night and followed some advice on here and used the d-pad. I was shocked how much more in control I felt and would never even consider it in a standard racer. Good advice.

Try switching the airbrakes to L1/R1 too...

@FuzzyDucky A+ speed is absolutely awful. All of the road signage turns into a plain red mess, and the track becomes that awful bright WHITE.

I lost more energy in A+ than I did on Mach 1 and Mach 1.1 on many of those races.

I haven't played one of these since the original wipeout was released, everything was fine and simple and then A class and Sol happened...

I ventured online for the first time last night...

Suffice to say, with everyone else at lvl30+ I was soundly beaten, with my best finish being 4th (of 8). It was good fun though and taking another competitor out at close range with a few rockets was immensely satisfying

@Decks I'd say jump in to HD first. 2048 is a bit much from a starting point of view.

@Ceelion For my part, I intend to platinum it but it took me literally 5 years to platinum 2048 on the Vita (mainly because I couldn't face the online grind especially with the progress reset bug)... So I'm still playing Omega but more as a marathon than a sprint :-)

I played a bit more online last night - jumped into one lobby, with 2 other players on similar (low) levels to me. I won the race by 10 seconds, not even seeing the competition...

So switched to another lobby for a bit more of a challenge, came 4th, but 1st place was about 25 seconds ahead of me!?

I've also gone back to finish some of the 2050 season events - there's one time trial just off the main path (A class on Downtown) where I'm struggling to get anywhere near the time required to pass it - the best I did was 2 1/2 seconds off over 3 laps... I've tried several different ships, but with no material improvement.

I think I'll just plug away at it, as I think it'll be the only thing holding me back from finishing all of the 2048 events (not all Elite passed mind!)

Got "Completist" recently. Maybe 75% of them are elite passes so now I have the killer task of earning "Elite Completist". I'm only playing a couple of hours a week so it will probably take months!

I finally got around to finishing off all of the 2048 events last night - after struggling with the Downtown time trial, I eventually managed it with 1.5 seconds to spare!

I'm now just working my way through the Fury events - I quite like the Fury tracks, but and less keen on some of the newer events, instead preferring the simple racing/speed lap of HD...
